The situation is that by Christmas I was managing to keep the leg on for long periods, and even managed a flight of stairs a couple of times. I was using 2 walking sticks to ensure balance. I was however having some slight pain in the stump.
During the following 3 weeks I started practicing to use just one walking stick, however although I was winning the pain was gradually getting worse and the amount of time I could keep the leg on was decreasing.

Apart from that I just started last week with the Disabled Service Center in Leicester and thats twice a week to learn to walk with as i put it a wooden leg (they are actually some sort of metal). They told me on Thursday that they will probably measure me up and create a cast for my own leg in a couple of weeks. This is apparently quite fast.

Hi Bill I am very sorry to hear about your amputation, I do hope and wish you well. I have a very good friend who is wheelchair bound that has just been in to unfortunately loose his remaining leg, the treatment he has had to go through during the run up and the aftercare has been good and I really feel for you and hope you are well on the mend.
Best Regards
Chris

BJ, I'm sorry, I had no idea how serious this was! A huge decision to have to make although it looks as though you've made it already. I wish you all the best with the surgery and recovery as well. What a great idea to write about the journey and start blogging about it. I will come back and check for updates...
I love your outlook too by the way... Bite back!
