SOPA may be on hold but the effects are being felt
I hope by know that you have heard of SOPA. Massive protest put this bill on the back burner but we are still feeling the effects. Namely the Megaupload situation. Megaupload has been shut down and criminal charges have been filed. Now this mess will go to a court of law where the precedent will be set. Even though it has not reached the courts, the effects are being felt. Content sharing sites like YouTube and others now face the difficult decision to remove user accounts or be the next Megaupload.
The entertainment industry, bolstered by what they think is a successful blow against MegaUpload are turning their sights on networks like YouTube. Sights that are built on Content Sharing are at risk from boneheads willing to destroy what may be their biggest support structure because they are afraid of losing a dime here or there. It's all about greed.
