WordPress has all kinds of Affiliate Marketing Plugins - it's NOT true that WP does not allow them ... I use AffiliateZIP and others on my WP Blog "The Business Builder Group". You can get this Plugin yourself and resell it, plus use it for as many other online products and affiliates as you like to sell through or sell directly ... it's totally up to you!
From my personal experiance wordpress, I set up two blogs for the backlinks to my main site with only three posts each, and the wordpress was most of the time around third page for the searched term while blogspot blogg was even further than 10th page, not that matter since It wasn't my intention to get them ranked, just indexed, but just for the record google like wordpress for some reason
Wordpress is my first choice but I also use blogger. I think, to be fair google has to stick to it's own rules when it comes to key words and therefore can not favor their own blogger platform, above other platforms. It all boils down to your use of keywords to be ranked. One tip is to use your main key word (long tail) as your url.
Both have pros and cons.. And I have used these two a lot. And here's my answer: If you are looking to build a real blog that is not so concern for monetization but for content, go for Wordpress. But if you want to have at least a monetization thing for a blog, go for Blogger. Wordpress does not allow Affiliate marketing at least for most affiliate systems while Blogger allows it.
I prefer Wordpress.. they look more professional than Blogger in my opinion. Easy to install if you have a hosting account and you can setup as many as you like.
WordPress does have a free environment, I think, but probably less versatile than having it on your own hosting.
I used to have only a WordPress blog, but I created a Blogger blog recently, the reason being I wanted to do video tutorials about Blogger since so many people use it.
For a free blog no.1 blogger and the alternative webs.com. I'm on Blogger with three key words on the first page of: Around 208 million search results (0.26 seconds)
I understand the responses. 50% between likes of wordpress and blogger. But my questions is why wouldn't GOOGLE love blogger since it's their product. I've monetized, keyword optimized, and "pinged" my blogger site but it still doesn't show-up in searches.
I have never used WP, l am so use to blogger, but l have heard many different feelings about both programs. I think l will try one day but when will that day be.
I think these two blog providers diiffer on the main concern of blogging. Blogger enable us to monetize our blog using free domain while WP not. For beginner like me, blogger is more user-friendly just like Franto said, but we can still get used with WP dashboard shortly, after some practices. Lots of awesome themes available; however, is another feature most I like with WP.
if we talking about free services, blogger is my choice. i use blogger for shopping cart with easy custom, search engine friendly. take a look of my profile, u will find my blogger catalog shopping cart. thanks
Blogger is a Google product and it's very easy to set up, easier than WP, but WP is nuch more versatile with all the plugins you can get for it ... your focus should be on WP - no harm to have a few Blogger sites on top of it!

I have never used or wanted to use either. I started writing a NotaBlog (I hate the word Blog) on my own site but quickly got bored with it
