As a Zen practitioner, I would say that it is attachment. It is often described as greed, but I feel that is a very loaded word. If I am attached, then I am hooked into the program of desire and this is rarely if ever, satisfied.

At the end of the day there will always be persons who can't look beyond the material and the vanity within. There will be those who will defend their right to seek riches while abandoning all that is spiritual and ethical. However, it cannot be denied that money and the materials of life are important. What is even more important is striking that balance because in the end, until such a time w
Life indeed is like a race. We need to make sure we have everything that we want or need to before we get to the finish line which is life 6ft below. This reality brought us to earn more than what we need.
because money is most powerful thing in this world. We can not gain knowledge without money, we can not become powerful without money, we can not represent ours strength without money.

Not sure about the "people make more than they need" statement. In todays' world 1 person can be supporting more than one household or their adult children have moved back home because of a lack of jobs. The very few may because of Greed and a lack of morals.

If one does not "Set money as a Goal" and focuses on doing a the best presentation of Self possible, money naturally follows and usually plenty of it.
BUT one must be realistic and create reasonable budgets to cover the expense of operating their businesses effectively.
Also the Net Income and the Building of Real wealth are NOT necessarily connected.
Wealth building is a separate issue from Income.
