Living With a Cat

Living with a cat could be very pleasant and very annoying at the same time. They are one of the most preferred pets, with dogs and hamsters, and this is the main reason they have flooded the internet with funny and cute pictures. By “they” I don't mean, that the cat did it, but probably their owners. And everybody who at least once in his life has been on the internet has seen a picture. But the point here is that they are really desirable. If you don't have a cat and never had one, here I will tell you the positive and negative sides of having such a creature in your home.

Cats are wild animals. That is not entirely accurate, because they are pets and can be trained, but even with a lot of training, and even if they lived with you for years, they will not lose their natural instincts. This means, that they will continue scratching, jumping around, and some times they might even attack you. There are plenty of ways to stop cats from scratching your furniture – like building them or buying something else to scratch on, like a cat tree or a cat post. Other ways are to trim their claws or just make the surface unscratchable. But how will you stop the cat from attaching you and scratching you. Some breeds are just too wild to be tamed and even if they look cute and fluffy, they are wild and can't be stopped. So you have to be prepared.

By jumping around I meant that they like jumping on furniture or some high surfaces. This doesn't seem dangerous in any way, but could be really unpleasant, when they knock down your TV or your figurines. According to a list posted on some blog of an end of tenancy cleaning company one of the most common accidents happening in people's homes, are made by their pets, and mostly – cats. And it's true, because cats don't care about your property. They just jump behind the TV and push it to the ground. They scratch your couch, leave hair everywhere, push vases, appliances.

But you can't blame it on the cat, it is just an animal and it doesn't think about the mass of the object that it's jumping on, it is just an instinct and accidents happen. It is your job to prevent them.

I think this is enough about the negative sides. Living with a cat can be fun, too. They could become like part of the family. They are small animals, so they can get used to you and will know your voice, your smell and looks. So it will be really pleasing every time you are coming back from work it will know that is you who is walking in front of the door and it will be waiting. You think that it's waiting for you to feed it, but it is not all that it is. They are just waiting for attention.

And it is true what they say about cats knowing when you feeling sick. If you have a stomach ache or a headache it will come and lie on the place it hurts. I don't know how they sense it, but it will make you feel better.

Oh, and cats will make your children happier, bot to say the whole family. It is always a great joy, when you are tired and upset about something, just to watch the cat play in a funny way or do something silly. It will make all of your problems go away in a second.
