How to Interact and Build Strong Relationship with Patients using Social Media
Many people have had the perception that social media is just a temporary trend. But that perception is no longer there because many people are now aware of the role it is playing in today’s society. Social media is currently an important aspect in dental practice marketing as well as patient base development platform.
Using your practice social media like Facebook pages is just one way of dental social media marketing that will help practice to engage patients and build a strong long lasting relationship. All this will result to patients opting for your practice when selecting the best practice because you earn each other trust. I’ve talked much about social media but I’m yet to answer the question how can you engage patients and build a long term relationship?
First of all, be real and be yourself. Don’t post on your social media something like “Hello everybody, have a great day” instead what you post should be more interactive like a question: “Have you ever thought of changing your smile?” If they are interested, they will read more. You can go ahead and give them information along with an invitation to call your practice for more information/advice and maybe treatment. (I believe you’re getting a clear picture of what I’m talking about).
Share ideas with patients and participate in conversations in authentic way. So being real is all about sharing facts that will help patients and you’ll get them hooked on your dental social media but if it’s fake just because you want to get more patients, it will be a useless way of dental marketing services.
Reward your loyal ambassadors. How are you going to do this or how do you know your loyal ambassadors? There are those patients who have been in your practice before and then they share their positive experience on your social platform. You can take pictures and use these pictures as your newsletter cover picture (with their permission!). This will not only motivate others patients but will keep them engaged on your social media platform.
Share personal items about yourself and your time. It is social media so your content should be 80% and only 20% promotion in your newsfeed. This is how social media marketing for dentists is supposed to be or work.
Do not let this opportunity pass by you. How? It will be disappointing to all patients who access your social media asking questions or seeking information on for them to be referred to another point for the answer. This pet peeve is something myself don’t like at all. Dentists should equip their social media person with information and tools that will help them to respond to patients concerns promptly.
If your social media person is not aware of the answer or the question asked needs more research, let them not answer but they should find the answer and they should communicate with confidence. And now that social media is a recent phenomenon, it is worth any practice to use it to cultivate a strong and meaningful relationship with patients. It’s a little investment but the reward is promising.
