Don't Bring Me No Bad (Irrelevant) News
All news is not good news and all good news is relevant news. The hub of our APSense Business Social Network is the "News Feed" or "Network Feed". Within that APSense "Network Feed" is relevant news and useful information about members articles, Rev Pages, comments, ezines and posts. Also relevant news about members activities in the various APSense Add On services appropriately appears in the "News Feed". However, in my opinion, there is too much irrelevant news and useless information taking up much time and space in the APSense 'News Feed"or "Network Feed".
One example of this is "Viewed A Profile". At any given time nearly two thirds of the "News Feed" is taken up by" who's looking at who's profile". I do think it is relevant to me who is viewing my profile and our APSense Homepage provides us that information at the bottom of the left sidebar, " Who Visited Me". I frankly don't "give a hoot" about "who's looking at who's profile" in the APSense "News Feed" because it is irrelevant to me. Another example is "Completed Today's Missions" and how many credits were earned. In my opinion, that is time and space taken up in the "News Feed" that is providing irrelevant news and useless information for the serious marketers and business people here on APSense. Another example is the "update" notifications in the" News Feed". I have never once flew to some member's profile or Business Center simply because I was notified of their updates to their profiles, Business Centers or whatever.
Along with our APSense "Network Feed" we have our APSense "Group Feed", another very important hub in the APSense Business Social Network. However the same group discussions appear in both feeds, which is redundant. Group discussions should appear in the 'Group Feed" not the "News Feed", in my opinion.
The point I am trying to make with this article is that possibly the APSense News feed can be "cleaned up" by only having relevant news in the 'Network Feed", providing ample time and space in the "News Feed" for what is really important to the serious marketers and business people here in this wonderful business social network, APSense. Just don't bring me no bad (irrelevant) news!

I agree with some of what you say Roosevelt. I had to disconnect myself with someone because my news feed was filled up constantly with notices of (Viewed a profile:) and that was all I saw for hours. Is it cool to see who is checking out who? I would say yes but if I wanted to check out everyone on APSense I would do it myself. I really don't want or am not interested that someone else is doing it.
This one I really just don't understand at all. (Completed today's missions and earned 50 cred

Wow, I'm glad I saw this, it's very interesting, the article itself and the comments. Knowing the wall on other social networks is as busy as APSense, and finding what I like disappear fast, I think it asks us to be creative in getting attention. As for the "viewed profile", I like it, because many times, if I see a good friend look at a profile, I will look it up myself and send a contact request.

Well said Roosevelt but as you know... every cloud has a silver lining and even the feeds can have a use other than what they were designed for :)

Yes and while it is irrelevant to you, others do use that information. I use it myself. When I see my contacts viewing profiles depending on who did the viewing I will go look too. I have several people on my contact list today that got there because someone I'm connected to viewed their profile. I went because my curiosity was peeked and found someone to watch and eventually connect with. So it is not 'useless'. Just useless for you. I find value in it. Just as there are probably parts

Hey Roosevelt nice article I do agree to a certain extent though a lot of it is very irrelevant but maybe it's valuable to someone else who knows lol:)

Your point is well taken, Cheryl and The Wiz is one of my favorite movies too! The 'Looky Lou" notifications of who "Viewed A Profile" I still feel is useless information that takes up way to much time and space in the "Network Feed". You write an article or a Rev Page and it only appears for a minute before twenty "Viewed A Profile" notifications appear in the "Network Feed".

Although I do find some bits of the News Feed irrelevant - just like Rooosevelt, Cheryl's comment made me think of the "bigger picture," and it makes a lot of sense. It kind of reminds me of that saying: "One mans meat is another mans poison." It's very possible that the things I regard as irrelevant are very relevant to many other APsense members (and vice versa).

You had to dig up Eviline? (The Wiz is a classic movie for me). But as to the newsfeed, much of what you find irrelevant is important to others. Although I agree with the Group Posts being redundant and people not necessarily needing to know who earned what from completing missions. It's like a newspaper. I don't know of anyone who reads every single section of a newspaper, but when that paper goes out in the morning by days end someone has read every single part of it. You may only be inte

News Feed is really important to give exposure to any product you're promoting.
