Hi, There seems to be alot of questions about the new changes here at apsense. So here is a very brief explanation. When the new blog categories came out..We recognized there was no place for everyday blogs...so we came up with the life in general category. I have also read many comments about the blog categories being all advertising and no content, there is a classifieds section for ads. The rest is for learning and for sharing content in those different areas. Also they will be trying to come up with something that will keep the blogs in the proper categories. The spam reporting is being done away with. We will be using the top and drop method for all content here at apsense. This will be explained further in this weeks newsletter. Lynn

I still don't know what this "top and drop" means. It doesn't leave any wriggle room. Is it a "Good - No Good" vote

I still maintain that APSense has created a whole new frontier in the Social-Business Network Arena.
But like the Wild, Wild West, if you give everyone a shotgun, there is no way you can keep the killing spree down.

It may take time finding the root causes while we concentrate on the symptoms.

I have make some suggestions before, but

OK Steve, maybe not plenty of groups... but there are some LOL. This group is one of them - and there are others.

I guess I look at things differently. The threads that I contribute to are the ones that interest me. I have my own groups, however small they may be, that interest me, so I post there and I am enjoying myself. I've enjoyed looking at people's ABCs, and reading blogs - even the ones that are advertisements.

I could seriously give a hoot about the points or where my pages

The aim of this post was supposed to be a heads up to make sure we all read the newsletter this week to find out what changes have been made.

I am seeing same points that have been raised in so many other threads.

We ask for changes and get them, then, we are not happy because of the changes.
The system is not perfect and never will be. There will always be room for improvement, but I honestly think that we should give the changes that have been made a little while to see how they work.

Lynn,

Simply have groups that accept advertisments programmed not to be sent to APsense express.

Hi Lynn

Thanks for such a quick response. We will just have to agree to disagree with on this one ,

I am sorry to hear that niche areas such as those of us artists and crafters are not going to be catered for. Life in General is what happens to me when I am not working. Arts and Crafts are my business! lol

As far as the spam flags for messages. Why don't you just mention this in your profile? Then future contacts would see this and abide by your wishes. Lynn

Hi Jenny,
We removed all other how to's and replaced it with life in general. We did bring up arts and crafts but we decided on life in general. This along with the no spam reports, and top & drop will be announced in the upcoming newsletter. This post was made to answer a few of these questions ahead of time. Lynn

Hi Eric

I have seen your Flag for no Spam option suggested once before by you - and i think it is a great idea - the blocking option is not one that appeals to me. i dont mind having friends who like to spam - so long as I have the option not receive it.

A No Spam Today Flag would be a very pleasant option - and then it would only be an abuse if it was ignored.

If a contact of mine wouldn't respect my wishes not to receive advertisements. Why would I want them as a contact to begin with? I do not send ads to my contacts, and if I ask someone not to, they stop. As far as a red flag...how would the express system know which were ads? Lynn

Hi Lynn,

I am not suggesting for a minute that every category of blog is covered, but I do think that the categories we have should refflect the commonly found and searched for topics on social networking sites. The ones we have here are going to leave a disproportionatly high percentage of blogs in Life in General or All Other How tos.

Also It now appears that we will all have to change the title sof our groups and topics so that they have very precise keywords in them, in order to be found.

There should be a subscription system for advertising. If we agree to send advertising to the group we also agree to receive it (which is how it is now), but we should have the ability to say NO. I do not want this advertising without having to ban contact from a particular person altogether.

Or perhaps a flagging system where people who opt not to receive adverts automatically have it blocked or deleted from APsense express.

Hi Jenny,
There are now many blog categories(only one blog section is for advertising) as well as group categories. We are not going to be able to have blog sections for everything, that is why we now have the life in general section. The groups are found by keywords. These will be the last changes for awhile. These changes along with the navigational ones, will make it alot easier to target your posts and blogs to the people that you want to reach. Lynn

We'll have to agree to disagree on this on Karen.

"there are a good many groups with some great content on them. I tend to not even look at the other groups."

I need some clarification on "good many groups" who are they and where do I find them?

I have a great group with great content but no one can find it?-called "become a Life Coach Group". I only have six members and I don't spam people or groups to have them become a member. I believe in putting out some value first in my blogs

Hi Lynn,

I am afraid i am inclined to agree with Steve that all these changes are not getting to the root of the problem - which is to me that advetising is getting in the way of conversation and relationship building at ApSEnse.

My only solution for this is to ingore data of previous use and implement suitable categories for people to blog in (normal boring ones that we are used to) and the same for us to put our Groups in. Irrespective of the title we choose for it.

There are many good no

LOL... I think we have been there before Karen!

As the greta Zig Ziglar said...

"We can all have anything we want in life if we just help enough other people get what they want"

We can respect and value competition or we can be selfish and ignore them and/or pretend they don't exist.

Coach Steve, there are a good many groups with some great content on them. I tend to not even look at the other groups.

I think the powers that be are doing a fantastic job of responding to the issues, but I think it is us, the members of the community that have to treat the cause. It is aferall, a community driven by its members... all admin can do is take care of the technology to implement what the members want.

So, when will the powers to be get, that changing the technology and turning functions on and off doesn't fix people's behaviors?

I'm having a real disappointment with this site. It occurs to me as if I was watching TV with commercials only-no content.

What I want and came here for is to create relationships and being in communication/in conversation with people with similar interest as mine.

The fact that I'm not getting any business from this site isn't even an issue because that isn

How does one demonstrate respect and value for a "competitive" market?

Just curious what that means...
