Why do people use fake photos for their profile page?

some people don't want to show their real profile.

I believe a bigger issue is the number of people who have created fake identities (which requires fake photos). I have seen a site where its members are urged to create identities with American names, to create email accounts with those names so they can deceive the people they are dealing with. It is likely that many of these fake photos belong to these fake identities.

According to me there are two thing
1)privacy
2)fake

Abhishek...if you want privacy then shouldn't come online but you do have a point. However do you walk around in public with a paper bag over your head? ^_^
That's how I see it when people post fake pictures. So it doesn't even matter what they are trying to sell anymore because they already presented themselves to be "fake". I mean if you don't want to show who you are then post an icon or logo...but not a fake photo....

I think they don't want come in-front! They feel we are not secure to share our real photo or other ID's. !
