One of the first things I look at, is whether the product or service in question provides a viable solution to a problem, in an ethical and sustainable manner. Of course there there are other criteria such as relevance, quality etc.
The product has to benefit my family. If I would not buy it, there is not a reason to go any further. Then I look at the owner. The creditability is the most important. Then the comp plan. It has to be designed for the workers.
Finance is one of the most incredible thing that you need to focus on before starting a business. However on the other hand in any business you need to spend money in order to earn money. So my suggestion would be before you spend, learn where and when to spend.
Thank you for the response Bruno :) Do you ever consider the product or service and what the customer gets besides the service/item? Meaning does it make them feel good, give them a sense of safety and security, is it something they will consistantly purchase? Or is it a one time splurge that gives them have a quick sense of happiness. Is it a purchase out of necessity or desire?
