David, I actually used a widget on blogger and wordpress and copied and pasted a code where I inserted "My free copyright"...both websites blogger and wordpress will allow you to insert many widgets.

Great thread is becoming...

I like the advice of Isabelle, which is superb. You can also take that one stage further, if you wish & if its a wordpress site, get the copyright content protection plugin for your site, which stops anyone nicking good work

I use it on my sites and wouldn't be without it.

Applied education is the difference

This happened to me a few times when I started being a music journalist. I confronted the person and threatened to see a lawyer if they didn't remove my article within 24 hours...I gave them another alternative : quote me as the source and mention my copyright. They ended up removing what they had copied and pasted.

The best way to avoid such issues ( I am also a published author, I have been blogging for over a decade), the best way is to protect your content by inserting your copyright.

You can email the webmaster of that web site and state that you have good faith that they re-produced your content or materials without your authorization. In your email you can ask if they please want to remove the content or materials (be specific about which content/materials) immediately and if they do not comply you are going to fill in a DMCA request. If the web master does not respond with in 7 days you can send the same email to their web hosting firm. If that does not help you can fill

Send Polite e-mail: First step that you can take is sending a polite email to the website owner informing that he had copied content from my website. Copying content is illegal and asks him to remove your copyrighted work. Wait for a response from website owner for the next 5-6 business days.
Cease and Desist Notice: If nothing happens with your polite email, you can think of sending Cease and Desist (Also known as C&D) notice to the website owner. Here is a cease and desist sample that you

This is a copyright issue and it must be reported in appropriate place. You do a google search for "Copyright site". Then, you can find a site to report the issue with.

Believe in Yourself!

Find out what company is hosting the site and contact them. You'll also want to contact the company from which the person bought the domain from. This should take care of it.

Send them email and request to take content down as you are the sole owner of concern content. The reputed company or individual do not bother you.
