I don't chat much. I'm less likely to click on a link in chat than an email or post.

Yes, Rod, it is not a really important issue that should take up too much time, when the solution is really quite simple. Simply do not click.

My thoughts on this are as follows:

I have chatted with many people here on APSense and I agree with Neville. I refuse to click on any link that was just sent to me generically. For Example: (Click this link), without even a hi nice to meet you first. I consider that spam and it's not acceptable. I usually tell them this is what they are doing by sending the link and if I get it again I report them and delete them from my friends list.

I personally want to network with real business owners and

No, unless I know who the person I am chatting with is and I am sure that the link doesn't contain a virus or spyware, I would never click on a link in an instant message. I always prefer to type in all my links anyway, just as a precaution, because even friends could have had their machines hacked and not even know they are sending out problem links.

Well - My point of view is little different, Whoever ask me to like his Page and most of them are asking to like Brand Page which is a product of APSense than I do not hesitate to like it because it works in 2 ways. One the person whoever he or she is gets a like for his Brand Page which is a Free Promotion for them and who hate FREE STUFF? Second, Brand Page which is a product of APSense is getting more popularity in the community which helps all of us being a contributor of APSense Family.

Yes, You are right Neville Dinning. I also do not click or like the page that they ask me to click or like at first in chat but if I know him/them personally or chating for a long time with him/them.

Lokesh, if they start the chat with something like "Click this please" then give the link, I will not click or "like". If the clicking a link comes up after some related discussion then I may do that. But not when a chat starts with a request for a click or like.

When someone in chat asks me to like his APSense B.P. or Facebook Fan Page, I like it. But I check that (APSense B.P. or Facebook Fan Page) first.

if people in chat ask me to like their Facebook Fan Page or APSense Brand Page, I like it, unless it's about something that could be a scam, like a miracle program like Zeek or Profit Clicking

Jaris, I have been setting my status as offline for a few days. It certainly helps to keep clear of the spammers. But today I set as I'm available, and the first thing I got was a command that I click a link. I politely replied No thanks. and he disappeared. Strange!

Thanks Waqar and Vishwajeet. Unfortunately there seem to be some people whose training tells them to spread links everywhere, without first getting to know who they are chatting to.
