What’s Hot and What’s Not in Summer Footwear Fashions for 2013

It’s summer again: time to get your glad rags on. We can leave the drabness of winter behind us and get on with the business of living. Part of this means expressing our personalities through our clothing, and in summer, this equate to dressing in bright and funky clothing. Shoes, of course, are a fundamental part of any outfit – they make or break the outfit. It is important to choose carefully, then, and part of making a good choice is knowing the latest fashions. If you would like to know which fashions are big news for spring and summer 2013, then read on.
Luckily for us, this year is all about looking sophisticated, but casual. This means that the shoes are going to be comfortable. This serves two benefits:
1. If you are comfortable in your shoes you will walk with more confidence. Confidence is attractive and therefore, if you feel confident you will look good.
2. It feels good – nobody likes to walk around in painful shoes, but many women do…for fashion. Fortunately, this year is the year when we get to look great and feel great too.
Many of the shoes will be lightweight, with plenty of space to allow the feet to breathe. Jelly shoes and gladiator shoes are big news this summer, and these are airy and open, and therefore will minimise sweating. Other styles, such as espadrilles, are also good at keeping your feet aired and refreshed. For those of you that suffer from athlete’s foot, these styles of footwear will be perfect for you. Now, let’s just hope that the British summertime doesn’t let us down, again – although this is probably wishful thinking, when have we ever had a good British summer?
Summer and spring are the times of year when the flowers come into bloom, when the colours explode across nature. You should be mimicking this with your summer wardrobe. Go for bright colours that match the season. Common summer colours are white, yellow, green, red and sky blue. Make sure that you select a playful and refreshing colour pallet that matches the season perfectly.
Accessorising during the summer months is also essential. The more flourish and flare you have to your outfit, the more it will reflect the free and easy feelings of the time of year. Any shoes with ribbons, flowers, buttons, heels and bows are ideal. Don’t go overboard, though, subtlety is good.
The following are key trends in footwear for 2013:
Sandals: you will be able to choose from a range of sandals. Of particular importance this year will be the espadrilles and jelly shoes.
· High heels: there are plenty of high heels on offer this year. We particularly like the espadrille wedges because they combine two distinct fashions: heels and espadrilles. These work great with the mini-dresses that are going to be all the rage this season.
· Flats are popular this year because, as we explained above, it is all about comfort and style in 2013, and no shoes can be quite as comfortable as flats.
