Are Shoe Shops A Dying Breed In The High Street?

It looks very predatory out there for the high street shops.  Corner shops vanish because they cannot compete with the big, out of town shopping centres.  They, in turn, are threatened by the increasing volume of internet shoppers.

If the small shop does not adapt to the times and branch out on the internet, their days are surely numbered.  This is worrying as corner shops tend to keep communities together. Once they are closed, you might not see your neighbour or fellow community members at all.

These days anything can be bought on the internet.  You can even do your food shopping there and get it delivered right to your door.  This is a real bonus for households where both parents have busy jobs.  It also gets you out of the tedium of having to drag yourself out in foul weather to put something to eat on the table every night.

Can the same be said of shoe shops in our locality?  You only have to look on the internet to see that many retailers have set up a lucrative business by designing a web site and hiring a warehouse.  They are every bit as efficient as our local shop with delivery and payment methods.  The only disadvantage is that you cannot try things on before you buy.

Of course, you can always find out if the on-line shop has a high street outlet too.  If they have not the chances are that these particular concerns will be able to sell shoes much cheaper as they do not have to pay shop staff, utilities and council tax.

Every shop keeper knows that if the weather is bad, trading is likely to reflect this.  On-line shopping is not affected by weather conditions.  In fact, these retailers are likely to do better as their customers can site in front of the fire in their living room and shop at any time of the day.

The working public can even do their shopping at work in their lunch hour; it is that convenient.

Most on-line shops will offer free delivery if your order is over a certain amount.  You should check this out first before your purchase.  Because you cannot physically try the footwear out, they usually have a generous returns policy in place.

If something does not fit, you simply return it.  This is very acceptable as long as you have not worn the goods beforehand.  It is very likely, however that you will have to pay for the return postage.  To prevent this from happening you can download any shoe size chart that you find on line.

To entice the public to spend more when shopping on line, many outlets there have a good sales page and sometimes offer to let you have a second pair of shoes at half price.  We at Mr Shoes currently give you ten per cent off a second pair of shoes.  You will see that most of the footwear is very keenly priced.

For fabulous offers in shoe shops on line that do not only sell footwear, but clothing and accessories such as handbags too, please go to Mrshoes.
