Trimethyl chlorosilane
is oragno silicon compound having molecular formula C3H9ClSi. It is colourless liquid in nature and is stable in absence of water. With water it reacts explosively. It is highly flammable in nature and at high temperature and pressure readily undergoes chemical changes. Its preparation is done by reacting methyl chloride with silicon alloy. It has variety of applications. It is used for preparation of HMDSO which is also used as pharma intermediate. In organic synthesis for silylation, for preparation of trimethyl sillyl halides and pseudo halides and for protection of functional group. For making laboratory glassware surfaces lipophillic. By trimethyl silylation it enables detection of non volatile compounds by GC. No doubt trimethyl chlorosilane derivative are thermally stable but they undergoes hydrolysis readily as compared to their previous derivative stage. It react with alcohol and hence used for manufacturing anhydrous solutions of HCl. These anhydrous solutions of HCl are used
for synthesis of esters from carboxylic acids and nitriles. It is the also used to increase reactivity of HMDS, alkaloids, amines, pyridine, phenols, carboxylic acids, steroids etc.

Similar to any other silane it is also very toxic in nature and may cause death even upon exposure to very small amount so care need to be taken while handling it. It should be handled by proper precaution and along with appropriate protective equipments. It should be also be stored properly to prevent leakage as it can cause many problem.

Chloromethyl Isopropyl Carbonate

Chloromethyl isopropyl carbonate It is colourless liquid having molecular formula C5H9ClO3 and molecular weight about 152.58.It is non hazardous and non flammable. Under normal temperature and pressure it is stable. As it is strong oxidising agent and strong base it is incompatible with any other material. It is primarily used as intermediate for manufacturing of drug named Tenofovir which is proven medicine for AIDS. Tenofovir is antiretroviral medication also used for treatment of chronic hepatitis B. It was approved for use in HIV infection in united states in 2001 and was approved for use in treating hepatitis B in 2008.Thus this intermediate has brought revolution in pharma sector.
