All good content marketing teams knows that great content marketing strategies include multi-media platforms. Video is one form of content marketing used in a multi-media campaign — and when done correctly, video can dramatically benefit your marketing campaign.

With the help of a professional content marketing firm, a company-specific strategy can be put in place and stellar video content can be created. Great videos generally follow a few basic rules. By starting from the basics and letting your creativity work within those bounds, your video quality will increase and so will the comments, likes and shares.

Keep It Short

The attention span of the average internet user in Utah and around the world has decreased over the years. Because of the decrease in attention, it is important that your video be not only interesting, but also short.

On average, users will watch an interesting and compelling video for about three to four minutes. Ultimately, it is important to keep your videos under four minutes if you wish to keep the maximum amount of viewers for as long as possible.

Keep It Simple

Complex concepts are difficult to depict in a three-minute video, so keep the general ideas basic and understandable. Just because your content marketing strategy is complex doesn’t mean that the content itself must be confusing.

If your company decides to make a video about hiking in Utah as part of your content marketing strategy, stick to showing four or five hikes. Do not show 15 different Utah hiking locations and give Utah-specific hiking tips all in one video; It’s too much for viewers to take in all at once — and ultimately, your message gets lost in the noise.

Keep It Quality

Low-quality videos receive lower amounts of views. Low-quality videos also send the message that your company does not care. If your company does not have the capability to create high-quality videos, hire an outside digital content marketing agency.

Keep It Uniform

Your brand likely has an image to maintain, so do not wreck that image with a video that feels inappropriate or out of place.

If your company sells backpacking gear in Utah, do not create a video with men in suits and classical music. Similarly, if your company is a bank, a rap video would not fit your image — and your customers would be less likely to take you seriously or trust your business.

Following the simple basics of video making will give your company the best shot at improving its content marketing and bringing in more customers. Perception is everything — and with the right video content marketing, you have the ability to build a brand image that people both instantly recognize and trust.
