Indian Railway network is one of the largest networks present in the whole world. They run around 19,000 trains on a daily basis and this grand arrangement is managed under a single management. This is an easy way to travel and movement of bulk commodities is easier through rails. Railway system is a large network and is a reliable source of traveling. People can depend on it and it caters the daily journeys through local trains as well. But now, with passing days, people are losing faith on railway services. This is because of the regular accidents and mishaps and irregularity of networks are making people skeptic about taking train journeys.

Modernizing the System

In order to make improvements in the entire railway system, the Indian Government has decided to spend a fare amount to modernize the entire system. This includes the repairing of railway tracks, new improved locomotive rail engines, wireless networks and advanced signaling system. In fact, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Ministry of Railway and LIC, which will give a financial assistance for new developed railway projects. The Railways has also rolled out new and improved rail coaches for a great and comfortable journey experience for the passengers. They are trying to improve the punctuality of trains and as a result they will save more time and the passengers will be happy to take a journey by train.

Cutting Energy Costs

As the Railway Government has decided to cut energy costs, they have signed a bilateral power agreement with Damodar Valley Corporation. As a result of this, Railways will buy 50 Mega watts of power from DVC as a part of their joint venture. On the other hand, Ministry of Indian Railways has sanctioned an implementation of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor with freight train speeds for 100 kilometers per hour.

Improving Railway Timetable

Indian railway time table has also been revisited and recreated. They are trying their best to remove all the incorrect reporting train times, which was done manually and is thus full of wrong information’s. They have created a system where if a train is late more than 30 minutes, it will get updated automatically in the system so that the passengers can check out.

As per Traffic Directorate, there are quite a lot of grounds for late running such as malfunction of signal, overhead equipment failure, rolling stock breakdown, which lead to decline in punctuality rate. This has to be repaired and taken care of immediately.

Railway system is a matter of pride to all the Indians. It is a mode of journey for all the classes of people. This is true and we have to agree that everyone cannot afford to fly by air every time. Train tickets are reasonable. Middle class people can afford to buy rail tickets any time. At the same time, if passengers get comfort and delightful journey, they will be more eager to travel by train. We all love to travel by train because we do not want to miss the beauty of nature India has and it gives us fond memories.
