Image Netflix major rival, Popcorn Time, is offline and might be gone forever.

Netflix Inc. is the online streaming giant which has expanded its global footprints in more than 80 countries. The company also has a massive viewers’ base of nearly 70 million and it is all possible because of the vigorous expansion plans on the company throughout the world. The company expands into a new region and starts to rule over its entertainment business. No competitor can match the class of Netflix and the services it offers to the viewers. Another major rival, Popcorn Time, is said to be gone and gone for long.

Popcorn Time is a Netflix type application or platform that provides streaming services assorted in online movies and TV shows to the users of Android, Windows PC, and Mac. The Netflix like app is also said to be using a smart implementation of Bit Torrent in its streaming service. However as of yet, no one has got to know regarding how it works and what Popcorn Time exactly is.

It is believed that company provides all of these services for free to its viewers hence in this manner it is a major threat to the leading online streaming giant. However, by providing free online movies and TV show suggests that the company is operating illegally in several areas. According to Forbes, “the method that it uses to stream content uses pieces of films from different pirate sites to circumvent copyright holders’ piracy detection systems, so it’s often considered a safer alternative for users than traditional piracy downloads.”

However the best part that would make Netflix happy is Popcorn Time is down and not working. The app is showing an error to the users which states that the server cannot be reached at that time. The website of the company is showing a similar error as well which indicates that the stream, website, or app is offline. Hence, Popcorn Time might be gone for good now and gone for long.

Forbes continued, “While this is good news for Netflix it may not be a permanent situation; the YTS servers were almost certainly backed up and while the MPAA and its cohorts often succeed in taking offending piracy sites offline they’re usually back fairly quickly.”

Netflix feels threatened whenever there is a new competitor in the market or an existing business comes up with a blockbuster plan but in the end it shows no care. That is because of the way it has sustained its position and reputation in the domestic and international markets.
