How to find the Position of Coach of a Train

Usually, while travelling with family on a vacation is not an easy task, especially with the entire luggage you have to carry around and also catching a train might prove tedious job especially in summer time in India when temperature becomes unbearable. To avoid chaos, you must have all the information before catching up the train like your PNR status, time of arrival and departure, your coach name and number, etc. But now with the help of various online portals, you cannot only find the status of the running train but also you can find the position of your coach. This is a brief guide how to find the position of the coach in which you are travelling, this can be very useful, and it can save you a lot of time especially in the case when you have to change the station in between the journey. You can find the exact position of the coach of a particular train on a particular station by just following these simple steps-

·         You can find out the exact location from the enquiry room from the railway station.

·         You can see the electronic board, which shows the coach number which will guide you to your coach.

·         You can find the exact location of your coach online by using PNR.

Above-mentioned two methods can sometimes be time consuming especially when you are at crowded station or train delay leading to much of a chaos, or you are arriving very last minute at the station, so the best way to find out location of your coach is to follow online method. Follow these steps:

1.      For checking online, first you need to have a perfectly stable internet connection.

2.      Then either you have to determine your coach number and PNR number. PNR stands for Passenger Train Record. It is the unique identification 10 digit number given to the passenger in which brief personal and journey details.

3.      There are many websites you can log in directly to find online train coach position

                                                              i.      You can log in to official IRCTC website for PNR status

                                                            ii.      You can use other websites such as travelkhana.com.

4.      In the first option, you need to log in official website and use these following steps

                                                              i.      Click on the PNR status bar and fill in your 10 digit unique PNR number which is printed in top right corner of your ticket or in e-ticket you will find it in a separate column

                                                            ii.      Once you have determined and filled the PNR details, you can find the following

a.       Train number

b.      Time of the arriving train(scheduled)

c.       Status of the ticket- confirmed/ waiting

d.      And finally the coach position

It should be noted that in any case it will not show the position of your coach if the ticket is waiting and not confirmed.

5.      You can also click the second option in which you can access the location of your coach by filling the PNR number.
