The trend setting looks of the laminate floor display your classy taste in home interiors without being too hard on your pocket.

The wood-grain appearance of these floors makes them a great substitute for hardwood. On top of that, they are more durable and have more shelf life than wood. Since, laminate floors get their appearance from photographic images and not the physical layers of the wood, homeowners can choose any type of look of the wood they want or that suits their décor. Laminate Flooring can be divided into different categories by its installation type and surface type.

Installation Type:

• Glueless-Click: There are some laminate floors in which pre-attached underpads are provided. Installation of these floors is easy and can be carried out quickly. Laminate floors that do not come equipped with underpads need lying down of underpads before installation for sound absorption and to provide cushion. This process proves to be both time-consuming as well as costly.  Most of the laminate floors come under Glueless-Click category.

• Glued Laminate: In these laminate floors, you are required to glue the joints together. These floors become very strong once they are installed but the cost of installation and time required for their fixing is generally greater.

• Pre-Glued: In these floors, joints have glue. You just need to moisten the glue to activate it and fix the joints together.

Surface Type:

• Smooth: A simple and plain high, low and medium gloss finish and a layer of varnish.

• Embossed or Textured: Some laminates are available in the market in textured finish. Although, regular embossing is not like grooves of the printed grain but you can see the surface grain in it.

• Distressed/Hand scraped: Distressed laminate flooring which was applicable only to engineered or hardwood flooring till now can add an antique appearance to your laminate floors.

• Embossed in Registration: It is the type of embossing in which grain of the wood matches exactly the embossed look.
