It produces less heat of hydration and also offers great resistance to the attack of aggressive waters than normal Portland cement (OPC). Moreover, it helps in reducing the leaching of calcium hydroxide which is liberated during the setting and hydration of the cement. PPC is ideally suited for construction purposes. It is used in constructing hydraulic structures, mass concreting works, marine structures, masonry mortars and also plastering work under severe conditions. PPC is said to have higher strength than OPC.

On the other hand, OPC stands for Ordinary Portland Cement and is also used for various purposes. It can be added to concrete mixtures to give more strength to the structures of the buildings.
