How career minded are we REALLY?
We tell ourselves that we are serious about making a success of our home business opportunity. We spend hours searching for the latest marketing trick to attract visitors to our website. We convince ourselves that if we had enough leads and enough prospects that we would succeed in generating customers or distributors or affiliates for our business.
We tell ourselves that if we could generate enough income then we would become full time networkers. We would then belong to the professional networker elite.
Now correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't a successful career start with a good education and apprenticeship in most walks of life?
And we all reply yes, of course. But where can you find a good education in networking? Sure, there are plenty of offers out there for professional coaching & training programs, but they cost an arm and a leg. And at the end of the day what did we really learn? So there are plenty of excuses (sorry, reasons) why a good education is just outside our reach.
So the question I am asking myself is "How career minded are we really?". I mean, would we really be prepared to educate ourselves if the equivalent of a university education for networkers was there for the taking?
Let me make this question really easy:
"If there was a university offering free education to students who wanted to educate themselves and graduate as professional networkers, would you follow such an education?"
Think about it and let me have your comments (and TOP'ings).
By now you should be discovering just how career minded you REALLY are... :-)
Share one thing that a good education will do for me:
To begin with you will never advertise your business (affiliate) link ever again! It took me a long time to learn this one simple lesson. Well, there is such a thing as "the exception to the rule" and "never say never". So I guess that I will treat my own advice flexibly in the years to come :-).
Try out my ads and links on this web page and you will understand what I mean.
You will learn to appreciate the importance of promoting yourself and your team first, and only then introducing your business. It's basic human psychology. We are social beings and we choose to do business with people we enjoy spending time with.
So you build the personal relationship first and foremost. The business relationship will follow in due course.
Do I "walk the talk" here at Apsense?
Well, I do my best.
If you enjoy what I write here, then you will probably read some of my other blogs, or click on my ads on this page, or visit my profile and take a closer look at my business center.
You may even decide to drop me a line and introduce yourself and who knows where we will go from there... provided you don't start by shoving your business down my throat :-)

Man that was very insightful,I like it alot and can relate. Tons and tons of information is out on the net and sometimes you see the stuff and don't know what to do! I've been in a couple of opportunities out there made some money in some opportunties and some opportunites not a dime,I won't say which ones, because that not the issue.
The issue here is the learning process of building relationships. I sometimes take my kids to the park and to my surprise, there building realationships with the

Ah yes! Its the same old story, those coming online thinking they will make millions just
by signing up to a program. blah blah blah. And those email ads, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Relationships are a building part in business, just remember if you chose another business
a relationship is there always, just keep it honest.
I think messengers have to be the best creation, it means we can communicate with no cost
except our internet connection.
Long live good old principles.

I think the topic has some merit, and we all should learn our trade before we blast it out their so everyone know what we have to offer them as a network and business opportunity.

I need to set aside the time for learning each week, just like I would if I were still in college. This would be a good start. Then maybe set some goals to ensure that I don't stray too far off my intended path - as that is WAY too possible for me.
I am new to ApSense but so far I like the layout, user friendliness, etc.

Good article...
There are so many individuals attacking you with their business that you don't have the chance to or may not even care to look into their offers. I agree that developing a relationship instead of just promoting your business will end with better results

Interesting indeed. During our childhood education, we never learn the way to earn money like all those industrialist that are earning tons and tons of money.

Hi Inaki!
Studying is needed always. Knowledges harm was yet brought nobody. Only except for it it is needed to know how to incarnate a theory in practice and get the desired result. I passed different courses for the internet to marketing. In theory, seems, know much, and practical results abandon to wish the best. Possibly, from bad knowledge of English I do not understand a great deal. It is therefore necessary to study, study, study...
Best regards,
Elena

It seems like a lifetime ago that I read the The Pathfinder. A very good book with its emphasis on personal development, committment, and simple tasks practised daily. In his book Nicholas Lore talks about making a daily routine of writing down your questions, as we talk about building our list of contacts. Yes, certainly a book to recommend to career minded individuals who are passionate about what they do with their lives and succeeding at what they do. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I would pay an employee to do what I do, were it not for the following facts:
- I cannot find an employee who can do what I do
- if I did find one, then he would either be too expensive or in business for himself
- I enjoy myself too much doing what I do to let somebody else do it
- I have a handfull of like-minded partners who also do what I do (more or less) which is fantastic leverage

One of the best ways to discover how career minded you are is to honestly evaluate what you put into your business then think about whether or not you would pay an employee for doing what you do. If you would not pay for what you do then you need to evaluate your goals, game plan and what you really want out of your business.

Hi Linda, thank you for sharing. In fact given your description for the Mentoring For Free group, which appears to have a similar mission as our MLMentors Network, why don't you share the website with us where we can find more information about your group? And I am sure that Apsense members would appreciate you posting a blog in which you share your experience with this group.
For example, I recently created a new group for the MLMentors Network.

Promoting offline I come across alot more like-minded people than I do online. In fact 90% of the successful networkers i have the honour of working with, you will not come across them on the internet. No online ads. No bulk emails. We spend our time coaching and training and working with a handful of colleagues at a time. When you telephone us you can reach us. We believe in education as described by George Bernard Shaw:
