What are the benefits of becoming a Group Administrator?

I understand the benefits of having my own groups, and of being an administrator of those, but what are the benefits of being an administrator of someone else's group? The reason I ask is that I started two groups, and the same person applied to be administrator of each. I noticed this person is second administrator of many new groups as they are formed. I don't know this person, so I tried to make contact, but they never approved my contact request, so I ended up having no choice but to decline the application. I can't have a co-administrator who won't talk to me ... LOL! Why would someone want to be an administrator of lots and lots and lots of groups? I am guessing from this that there must be some advantage, but I don't know what it is. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks! BTW, I have tried to find out myself, and in doing so found out how to switch the groups to reject applications, so thanks to everyone who wrote in the subject about that one.

Hi Lisa,

In that case I personaly would remove them.

There is no point in having them as admins if they are not doing anything.

It is useful if the admins actively share and contribute articles in the group.
The only contribution from one of my admins was a link promoting an affiliate opportuinity.

Otherwise they are just like extra players sitting on the bench in a football game.

Hi Penny,
I had the same problem. Someone applied as Admin. being new I thought it was a good thing as "contacts" are. Same as you, this person has "blocked" being contacted. Been waiting about a week now; after reading your frustrated post, I think I will bump her out. Another post informed me how to. I don't feel keeping "blocked" is very nice so here I go >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>to bump her! Thanks Penny...you gave me courage.

Thanks for asking the question, Penny. I've also noticed quite a few admins who co-admin many groups and wondered if there were any benefits to doing that. There are so many things to do in one day, sometimes I wonder how we all get everything done! ;-)

Thank you both for your advice. I have only accepted one administrator on one group, and she is someone I trust who can also contribute something positive to that group's members.

I got caught with the administrator applications in the beginning too. I've since gone back and denied them. They have never contributed so much as a hello to the group but as soon as they have been declined they show up. I've learned my lesson the hard way so it's best not to accept an administrator at all in the beginning

Hi Penny,

One of the reasons for being administrator of many groups is the extra exposure it gets them by being listed as admins all over the place. Its nothing more than a publicity exersice.

In reality they cannot do justice to any group nor assist in the daily administration as they spread themselves too thin.

It is also quite often the case that they only come to the site every few days so cant assist in the daily running of the groups they are admin of.

Also as Eric says be v

Thanks Eric. That makes sense, although it seems weird when they haven't actually contributed a topic. I guess these people might wait and see which groups take off and then add topics. It's all a bit too tactical for me!

.... sorry, one more thing...

My guess is people apply to lots of groups so they can "bump" their own topics up the list... i personally deny these types of applications...

Hi Penny,

Sometimes as a group grows you may find keeping up to date with all your groups keeps you busy... you can fix this by allocating an administrator to help.

Administrators have the same "control" of the group as you, the creator has, so you are right to choose wisely...

If got any of that wrong, i'm sure Bj will set me straight :o)
