Using Blog Categories
I have been taking the extra time the last couple of days to wander through the member blogs. What I found were mostly ads...I think there were actually 2 that were not selling something and one of those were borderline. Members asked for categories to put their blogs in, apsense responded and even gave us one to put classifieds in. Yet if you go to any category at this moment you will find all kinds of ads...there are links and banners and pictures of what they are selling. This is not what the blogs are intended for. And an advertisement doesn't have to have a link to be an ad. If you spend the entire blog talking only about your product..news flash...its an ad. There are some of us who have been here a long time and we are remaining because we can see the future. We are just hoping others will wake to the fact that this isn't a free for all. All members are free to post ads in the blog area, but please put them in the classified section. The rest of the sections are for content on subjects related to the category title. Thank you, Lynn

I am really glad to hear all this about blogs cause I am also tired of reading nothing but advertising blogs. Anyway, this discussions gives me a boost to continue writing by blogs about my pets.
Thanks, Lynn

I think this happens at most social networking communities.
People will use them for what they wish to use them for.
I think it has a little to do with having a better understanding
of the internet. Most just do not know how much harm they
can do with this.
Just because we are marketers and making money online
I think some tend to think of there auidences as dull and
gullable. They may not be marketers but they know what they like.
I dont see how this is going to change at all, perhaps som

Sheryl,
There is nothing wrong with members posting articles as long as they give proper credit. But any advertisement, whether it has new or useful information still needs to be placed in the classifieds section. Using your example if a member wanted to write about a health interest or concern, that would be fine...but as soon as it crossed the line of advertising it needs to be placed in the classifieds. Since we are now able to use a signature, there shouldn't be any reason members can't

Hi Chuck,
it may be "Just a simple thought" as you put it
but it is the exact definition of what a blog is supposed to be.
It is unfortunate that as with everything they have been twisted around and used in the way they are these days.

Hi Sheryl,
I must admit, I own an Article Directory and when i'm approving articles if i find one that may be of interest to users here (or other Social Networks) I will add it to my blogs.

I am also tired of people that just copy & paste some articles they found somewhere.
Some ads that i have seen for say health products actually have new information about general health issues. Those are fine.

Thank you for the Commentary,
I was wondering if I was going to see a discussion Today, instead of the
Flavor of the day proliferating the Site.
Blogs (Web-Log) truly were meant to pass information, share personal feelings, and announce something truly New...not replicated web-sites
They can always point people to other information outside of the Blog.

Now that we have the ability to ad signatures to ALL our posts - blogs & subjects (including replies) there is no need to be blatant with advertising.
I think the problem is, people look at a category as being a "perfect fit" for there product or opportunity so they advertise there to get the most exposure to that niche.
This is why i think a completely seperate categorised "classified ads section" would be good. People can advertise to a niche category.
