Pay per click (PPC) is anonline marketing concept that proves its existence in the commerce world. It also calls cost per click. This model helps in attracting traffic to your website. When a visitor clicks on an ad,advertisers have to pay an amount to the website owner (publisher). PPC ad generally displays on websites with relevant content.

The clearest explanation I have found, using Google as an example, distinguishes the Publisher using Adsense to monetize their sites as Cost Per Click (CPC) from the Advertiser using Adwords to buy traffic as Pay Per Click (PPC).
