not sure of the relevancy to device IPs Oswald...can you expand a little more. Most users would have anti malware, safe search and privacy protection provided in there security bundle or seperate installations from free to use programs... I'm protected by my existing sources so Spotflux I cant comment on...sorry
A New York-based company has come up with a software called Spotflux that they claim protects your privacy and saves you from malware in addition to allowing you to surf securely. Has anyone tried it?
IP hiding is a double edged sword. It allows people who have a genuine need to hide their IP as in the examples of whistle-blowers who need to keep identity hidden for security reasons. On the other hand it also allows people, as A S Kumar has suggested, to set up multiple accounts to rip off suppliers of services, and set up multiple accounts for spamming or fraudulent clicking in PPC programs. It would be interesting to see the real reasons why some people above have told us they hide IPs.
the biggest advantage to hiding your IP, through a proxy server or through software like Easy-IP-Hide or hotspot, is if you live in the United States, you can't get news in the US that you can get outside the US and sometimes, your IP may be restricted on this basis, from reading news you can't get in your country anyway. If you live in a country like China, such software gives you the same advantage.
Multiple account holders are prohibited by some programs where as other programs do not consider it very seriously. When a program restricts one account per IP, VPN can overcome this hurdle and the user can create multiple accounts using the VPN, but this is definitely not desirable as it amounts to cheating and the program tends to be at a loss because of this action as the purpose of restricting on e account per IP is defeated.
Thanks Oswald and A S.... I like your summary A S.
Lets continue with 'Multiple Account Holders'...how traceable are you...
(and please remember people when I present a question I try to do it for the benefit of all in general all responses to the subject are welcome} Subhanker and Carpet have provided some Software solutions which is great to hear.
Your IP address should not bother you as long as you are not visiting any malware sites or sites that are prohibited in your country. Also since the cyber crime enforcement agency has become strict about copyright, they track and locate you through your IP address. If you are a simple internet user I feel IP Address should not haunt you. In case you wnat to surf anonymously you can proxy servers or VPN(Virtual Private Network). Hope Your question is answered, Please mention if you have any sp
Is it just me or do the answers given here have no relevance to the question? The question is "Is your IP address haunting you? IP addresses... unique to a certain port of entry to the internet gateway... can you change the settings ?"

I.p haunts, If your country is ban from joining a program, just let such program go, and join semilar one, hiding i.p. Means leads to cheating.

However, none of the answers make sense.
