Man was not created to be alone. After God created Adam, He (God) created Eve to be his helpmate. I have lived with a husband in the past, but I live alone now. Right now I only have to worry about pleasing myself. I don't have to worry about and take care of anyone but myself. Some people don't want to be alone. I may be alone, but I AM NOT LONELY.

In the start of course we enjoy the freedom and our own decisions, but later on we realize that loneliness kills.

People tend to confuse being alone with being lonely. It can be great to live alone. You don't have to pick up after anyone but yourself. If you are not a morning person, you don't have to pretend to be happy in the mornings. You don't have to try to please anyone everyday if you live alone.

I think that you can be happy living alone. It is very hard living with other people. I have dealt with so much abuse in my life, that I think that it would be wonderful being alone.

My husband left 4 yrs ago, after a 34 yr marriage. Our business office is in back of the house & the 2 older children run it now, so I get to see them almost everyday, except wkends. I love living alone. Yes, sometimes it feels a little lonely, if I don't see kids for a few days, plus I now have a neighbor across the road, and we're friendly. I am 58 & would like a companion sometimes, but not often. You stay in your home & I'll stay in mine. I enjoy my freedom. Always have, always will.

I agree with Aimee. But we all need someone in our life ... when we have some problem in our home and we are alone, with no neighbors, is not easy ...

Writer - Zen practitioner

I lived alone or quite some time around 30+ years ago. There was a sort of freedom and to this day, I still like my own company. However the mind ends to say that "the grass is always greener on the other side" and I guess that it is. I remember wanting a relationship and so I met somebody and got married. As z Zen practitioner, nothing makes you happy in my opinion, happiness comes from any situation.. I would say that it's best not to seek it though!
