I too am "guilty" of using info, words, pictures from someone else's advertisement to assist me in setting up my own. However, I NEVER take their entire advertisement to make it my own.
That is a totally different thing then just taking someone hard work and trying to make it your own. Doing what you described is perfectly fine as you are reviewing the site and promoting it at the same time. Your not taking their logo and business name and trying to pass it off as yours.
Yes Todd, I have used content from sites to write reviews for things like traffic exchange sites, gpt, ptc sites, make money sites, I usually copy and paste the info from the actual site. Then I add my personal opinion of how it worked for me. (I do add Sources at the end of my posts to share where I got the info from) I feel like if you use info that's not your own, you want to cite the source. I learned that in college.
Keyanna, That is the very problem, people are taught exactly that, to steal others work and claim it as their own. The fact you even wrote that tells me you are not beyond doing that yourself, Not saying you have done it or do it. As far as taken legal action I would most definitely.
It happens all the time. The Internet has a lot if free info. People don't have to work hard online. Just google something, copy & paste & sign your name at the bottom. You have to be very skilled to protect your content but even so, there's always someone smarter that can steal it.
As far as actual logos and brands go, I believe legal action can be taken but who really wants to go through all of that trouble.
You can't. Protecting your links is like locking your car. Most criminals will move along to an easier target. However make no mistake the criminal who doesn't care, can still smash in your windows and steal your car.... and online that equates to jacking your links and stealing commissions.
However what Todd was talking about is people stealing logo's and company names, and there is no way to protect that as even a masked link shows the same information.... just the url is a little bit harder
Josh, sadly yes. On top of the fact masking doesn't stop one from right clicking images, viewing source, and what have you.... a person can easily demask any link that is masked. Websites exist just for that purpose.
Actually you don't have to trademark, register, or copyright anything. If you create a work its automatically your work (at least in the USA) and registering, things doesn't change that. Plenty of registered logo's are taken and misused everyday. Plenty of copyrighted images are reused without permission every day. Entire articles are completely stolen from others every day. Only if you are willing to file lawsuits and drag things into court does registering things matter... and then if you are
Yes, In todays competitive market people try to misuse or take all credits of others work.
You must register your work, brand, logo, company in order to protect your unique ideas, work or invention from unauthorized use.

I do believe with it but lawsuits are very expensive and wasting much time, I agree to what Mr.Bruce said

What about if you cloak your affiliate website, can it still be stolen?
