Within webmail, such as Yahoo or Hotmail, in preferences there should be a somewhere to click to link Facebook with these e-mail accounts. On other sites, there are usually buttons you can click on to link up to Facebook there too. You would just need to sign in with your Facebook account when you click the links. Also you may have seen "F" buttons on sites and you can link that page with your timeline in Facebook. I think you are asking how to link when you say "connect"...
