Home births are either attended or unattended. Women are attended when they are assisted through labor and birth by a professional, usually a midwife, and rarely a general practitioner. Women who are unassisted or only attended by a lay person, perhaps their spouse, family, friend, or a non-professional birth attendant, are sometimes called freebirths. Some home birth advocates have attempted to define a "planned" home birth as "a birth that occurs when: the woman intends to deliver at home; she
Modern doctors use pharmaceuticals to deliver babies so with the many medical advances and technologies, these physicians are not advocates for natural births anywhere.
I know plenty of moms who have had their children at home, I guess it depends on the health of the mother and the experience of the midwife. I don't see it being less safer than a hospital, because those medical doctors have a biased reason to want pregnant women in healthcare system. I just can't believe how doctors are telling new mothers not to breastfeed their children. Having babies is a business and I think that is why midwives are having such a hard time with legal issues in some states.
Thanks for all the comments: I was surprised to find that it is illegal in some U.S. States.
Direct-entry midwives (CMs and CPMs) are recognized as legal practitioners in some U.S. states but not in others. In some states the practice of direct-entry midwifery is illegal due to archaic laws or marketplace competition that pits medical doctors against midwives.
Studies show that because of the mortality rates being higher among home births it is best to have an experienced Doula, but since it is so easy to get certified, expecting mothers should be careful.
I found this on Wikipedia under home births and it states:
"A 2014 US survey of medical studies found that perinatal mortality rates were triple that of hospital births, and a US nationwide study over 13 million births on a 3-year span (2007-2010) found that births at home were roughly 10 times as
It is a good question because in some states the use of midwives is illegal. It is more about the licensing laws of using a midwife. Because home births must have a certified medically trained person in case of complications.

Safety for the mother and child would be my concern. Although it seems that having a baby at home is better it could lead to potential health risks.
