Why You Shouldn’t Wrap Your Food in Aluminum Foil before Cooking It

Most of the people use aluminum foil for cooking, baking, roasting and wrapping up food, but a large majority are unaware of the health problems that the aluminum-foil can bring. Some researchers even point out that large quantities of aluminum can lead to many dangerous diseases and other health-related issues, such as breast cancer or Alzheimer disease.

Researches made in the recent years point out that Alzheimer`s patients had a larger aluminum concentration in their brain tissue in comparison with other patients. We should be extremely careful about this because we are constantly exposed to aluminum on everyday basis. Besides harming the environment, aluminum comes with other risks as well. Some studies point that large doses of aluminum may harm those patients that have bone problems.
 
If we take a closer look we will see that aluminum foil and aluminum in general can be found in lots of products. We can see aluminum in all kinds of foods such as baked foods, baking powder, salt, cake agents, cheese, spices, salt, tea, herbs and processed foods. Aluminum is also found in different types of drugs, such as painkiller, anti-acids, vaccines and others. Products for personal care and cosmetics are also products with large quantities of aluminum. Those include deodorants, antiperspirants, shampoos, shower gels and lotions. Aluminum products such as soda cans and beer cans, cooking utensils and water bottles also contain aluminum-foil.

So what can be done in order to lower the risk from aluminum poisoning? The key is to lower down the intake of aluminum as low as possible. Do not use aluminum-foil for wrapping up food or for baking the food inside it. That is a habit that most of us should eliminate. A better solution would be using porcelain or other glassware for baking food. If the food is cold it can be wrapped inside aluminum-foil, but should not stay wrapped in for a very long time. Otherwise, the aluminum may leak and contaminate your food.

    When it comes to cooking utensils you must make sure that all of the pots for cooking are properly oxidized. That way you will prevent aluminum leakage in the food. When you purchase new cooking utensils start by boiling water in them for a few times before the base gets matted. This is a natural process of oxidization that will prevent aluminum leaking into the food. It may not look very nice, but it is helpful and safe.

    Avoid using deodorants and antiperspirants that contain aluminum. Instead, a good alternative is buying a natural deodorant or even use a baking soda for that purpose. Anti-acids that have aluminum in them should also be avoided. A better and more natural solution is to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, drink tea, coconut water, milk or Aloe Vera.

    Aluminum levels in the modern society are at very high levels, but all the problems will be prevented if you are aware and moderate in using aluminum products. If you want to live healthier and longer life pay attention to some of the advices and you will eliminate the risks.
