The List of Eight Essentials every New Mother Needs:

Herbal Bath-bombs: Postnatal sore pelvic floors are a real thing that can make any woman scared to ever get out of bed, yet, mad-respect to all the mammas who get back up stronger than ever to feed their little ones. Herbal bath fizzies can either be prepared at home or better bought from a well-known ayurvedic shop. These fizzies help soothe wounds, aches, pains, and further heal tears and perineal swellings. All you have to do is get your favorite kind of herbal bath-bomb in terms of smell and color, fill your bathtub with warm water, drop the bath bomb in, get inside and enjoy the show! Make sure you take a long, relaxing bath at night when the baby is sound asleep or early in the mornings to take full advantage of it without getting interrupted.

Self Care is your favorite bath bomb!

Maternity Pads: After birth, lochia and vaginal bleeding from the uterus lining shedding can cause a huge mess, especially after every breastfeeding session, the loss could seem heavier because the suckling causes the womb to tighten, forcing the lochia out. During this hard-to-move messy phase which can last for about two-six weeks is when a maternity pad comes in handy! Substitute tampons with comfy maternity pads and, or padsicles, which can be homemade, until the bleeding completely stops and you are free from any sort of pain and aches.

Water Bottle: It is very important to remain hydrated, by drinking a moderate amount of water, about 8 oz after childbirth. A water bottle is a must-have, either a warm water bottle or the one in which cold water can be stored. Remember, drinking a moderate amount of water is the key to a successful supply of milk as drinking excessively or two less may interfere with the milk production in new-mammas.

Peri-wash bottle: It is an easy-wash bottle for new mothers after giving birth. All you gotta do is find the right perineal irrigation bottle, fill it with warm water, and squeeze it towards the perineal area after toileting, or even changing pads, instead of using toilet papers which may only irritate the burn or ache in the perineal area.

Hot/ Cold packs: These are gel pads that can be warmed or cooled accordingly to help heal the aches and pains in the abdomen of new-mammas. All a new mamma needs to do is get her ideal kind of pack, and gently apply a cold/ hot pack on the abdomen where there is sharp stabbing pain. Remember that ice-packs should be removed after 10-20 minutes, and reapplied as needed.

Nursing Pads: These are again one of the must-haves for new mothers, especially the reusable ones as the disposable ones would be itchy and cause skin-irritation. Nursing pads prevent the embarrassing mess on a new mother’s clothes from leaking breasts. You can place them on a normal, or a nursing bra after feeding the baby.

Nursing bras: This is the most prioritized postpartum essential. Nursing bras help feed the baby anywhere, and at any time conveniently. They also come in handy when pumping breast milk using a breast pump while at work, or any other place other than home. It is true about how a new mother feels very uncomfortable anywhere other than her home to feed her newborn but with the right kind of nursing bra, she no longer has to stay indoors!

Maternity backpack: A new mother is of course going to get bored of staying at home, and will soon start planning mini-trips to the park, beach, and or, grocery shopping with her newborn. During these trips is when a maternity backpack comes in handy! It is very important to choose the right kind of bag in order to fit in the baby’s as well as mamma’s essentials without having to go through the toughest ‘Which one is important’ decision-making thinking.
