The Miss Chinatown USA pageant, based on Chinese communities within the U.S., greets delegates around the country. The pageant has been an annual Lunar New Year event since 1958. The winners of this pageant represent the Chinese community and act as ambassadors promoting Chinese culture and heritage.

For over 55 years, young women from throughout the United States have come to San Francisco to compete for prizes and scholarships in the annual Miss Chinatown USA Pageant. The winners become goodwill ambassadors for the Chinese community throughout the new year.

Chinatown in San Francisco is the first American Chinatown and the biggest Chinese community outside of Asia. To celebrate the brightest young Chinese women all across America, aspiring leaders battle for the crown at the annual Miss Chinatown USA Pageant. Since 1958, young Chinese women have flocked to the Palace of Fine Arts Theater in San Francisco this year on February 28, 2015 to compete for the title of Miss Chinatown as well as academic scholarships provided by community leaders from Chinatowns all over the US.

Every year, the new Miss Chinatown becomes an ambassador for Chinese culture. Winners of the Miss Chinatown USA Pageant often move on to bigger platforms. Past winners of the Miss Chinatown USA Pageant include Steffi Hu, musician Cindy Yen, and actress Gwendoline Yeo.

The newly selected Miss Chinatown USA and her court will be crowned at the annual Caesars Entertainment Miss Chinatown USA Coronation Ball. The black tie dinner/dance, attended by many community leaders, promises to be a highlight of the Lunar New Year festivities.
