Top 3 Types of Pearls available

The love for Jewellery women nurture is a special bond. While most crave for diamonds, my favorite is pearls. Those white drops of beauty appeals to me way more than other precious jewellery items like that of gold and diamond. There are many other who have this fetish for pearls, but often don’t know where to buy them from or the kinds of pearls available. I suggest, whenever you go to pick up the perfect pearl set from a shop, you know all the types of pearls that you can ask for and go to the best place where you can get it! Have a look:
Akoya pearls
This is well known and these types of pearls generally grow in oysters of the lagoons of ocean. They are in most cases round or perfect round in shape. After they are treated with chemicals, they are generally brilliant white in color and also pearls of pinkish shade and creamy tinge is also not rare. They can be anything from 2mm-11mm, the larger ones being really rare. I once spotted one pretty close to the highest size in Hazoorilal Jewellers GK in Delhi!
Tahitian pearls
These pearls have their own unique beauty. They are dark in color and were first noticed in the market abroad somewhere in the 1970’s. They are primarily black in color, but not all of them are. The most rare and expensive Tahitian pearls are dark green grey or blue grey. Varieties of greenish yellow pearls are also known to exist in the market, and they are usually known as Pistachio.
Freshwater pearls
As implied from the name itself, these pearls originate in fresh water mussels living in lakes, ponds, or rivers, or any other fresh water source. They are generally small in size, ranging from 4mm-7mm and not perfectly spherical before processing. There are different hues in which you can have fresh water pearls- yellow, orange and even purple, although a lot of processors treat them in several dyes and pigments to bring to it a different tinge of shade.
