If you are thinking of renovating the bathroom because you think it has done its time, needs some work and/or has gone 'out of fashion' it is probably better not to delay too much and act. In this direction, a valid aid comes from the tax deductions provided by the restructuring bonuses planned by the government from year to year and which currently amount to 50% of the cost incurred. In addition to this deduction, you are also entitled in this case to the mobile bonus.

Furnishing the Bathroom

To redecorate the bathroom and make it go back in step with the times if you love the antique you can do it without changing your personal taste, new trends in fashion have a look at the past, taking it as a cue and inspiration, with the addition of a touch of style and modernity. A fundamental role in this perspective is played by the individual elements that characterize the environment, as we will go into more detail in the following paragraphs.

An alternative to the real renovation is the less invasive restyling of the bathroom, which can consist of whitening the walls, glazing the bathtub, shower and tiles, replacing the sanitary ware, etc.. You can also recover old furniture or recovered materials, treating them properly and recycling them to give more character to the environment.

In case you prefer the real renovation and you intend to intervene on systems, replacement of pipes and/or screed is expected to be extraordinary maintenance that necessarily requires the CILA. On the contrary, the restyling (e.g. replacement of cladding and sanitary ware) is considered ordinary maintenance and returning to free building does not require special permits; in this case, however, you are not entitled to the tax credit provided by the renovation bonus and the mobile bonus. It is good to specify that if the replacement of sanitary ware or cladding is related to a real renovation then in that case you are entitled to the bonus.

Regulations For Bathroom Renovations

The renovation of the bathroom must comply with the hygienic-sanitary requirements laid down in the Ministerial Decree of 5 July 1975; it provides that bathrooms and technical rooms must have a minimum height of 2.40 meters and sufficient ventilation of the rooms.

There are also technical and hygienic standards provided for in the individual municipal building regulations; they usually indicate the minimum size of the room (approximately 3.5 square meters for the first bathroom and 2 square meters for the secondary ones); therefore there is no absolute freedom of design but it is necessary to comply with the technical standards provided for the bathroom. Blind bathrooms are allowed by law, but they must provide forced mechanical ventilation that ensures sufficient air healthiness. Once the decision has been taken to proceed with the renovation, it is first necessary to take care of the demolition and removal of the waste material with their disposal in specialized landfills as required by law. bIn the second place it will be necessary to take care of the systems: hydraulic and electrical, implementing if possible virtuous technologies for water saving. Only at this moment, it will be possible to proceed with the installation of the new sanitary ware, new coverings and accessories.

The International Bathroom Exhibition 2018, held in Milan, gave a lot of useful indications for the new trends in bathroom furnishing.

On this occasion, the watchword was well-being, taking sustainability and the environment into high consideration, thanks to systems that guarantee maximum water efficiency.

Bathroom Elements

We will now go on to assess the individual components and the choices we will have to make with regard to them.

As far as sanitary fixtures are concerned, the solutions are different: the classic ones placed on the floor, the flush and flush wall ones or the suspended ones. Depending on the type of system chosen, the position of the pipes will change.

For the plates with toilet flushing controls, large and small flushes are now standard, but according to Robotsnavigator, the technology has gone further and smart plates are now available that can be controlled by remote control or touch screen. These 'premium' elements include goodies such as cup and plate illumination, automatic cleaning, safety functions, etc.

As far as shower trays are concerned, the choice is very wide: there are those flush with the floor, those with a reduced rise and standard ones; among the 'premium' there are those in water-repellent, antibacterial, anti-mold materials, etc..

The modern shower enclosures offer the possibility of privacy with the glass and aluminum wall that separates it from the rest of the bathroom.

There is also a choice of washbasin taps that can be fitted in the standard or wall-mounted position. They can be chosen in any shape and material according to personal aesthetic tastes or special needs. They are also available in touch screen or touch screen version and can be equipped with LEDs that indicate the temperature of the water emitted. It is obvious that the more functions, design and material refinement, the higher the final cost will be.

The bathroom cabinet is a purchase that it is advisable to make at the same time as the washbasin in order to obtain an optimal visual and practical result. It is available in a modular version to adapt and customize it according to the needs of the moment.

Decorative radiators are increasingly important in our bathrooms for the function of heating and towel warmer, winking at the design. Usually, for convenience, it is installed and supplied with electricity but it is not forbidden to connect it to the water system of the heating system.

There are also those who want to give their bathroom the appearance of a wellness center and to do this just choose natural coverings and similar stone inspired by the design of the spa. If there is the possibility it is good to carefully consider the idea of giving yourself a whirlpool bath, an emotional shower or a sauna. The costs are not always inaccessible and it is not wrong to make a gift aimed at your psychophysical well-being.

If you do not have large budgets available, however, there are several economic solutions that still give an excellent result. To get it, however, you will need to choose carefully and tastefully every element, not skimping on savings when possible: sometimes you just need to install shiny edge protectors to give your bathroom a touch of style and elegance more
