Can I Have the Right to Raise an Objection Against MOT Result?

Such cases are rare, however, it is possible to appeal with DVSA as it has some special rules set out, no matter whether you want to go against a fail or pass result. If the reason for appealing is related to a mechanical item, the appeal can be accepted only if the original trial continues for 28 days.

If the reason for your dissatisfaction with the result is related to wear of parts (except brake disc, exhaust system or brake line), you are given 3 months to appeal.

Please note that the DVSA will accept your appeal and re-inspect the vehicle, charging you the same amount as a full MOT test.

Now if the result is in your favor then only this fee will be refunded.

Do I Have to Pay Again for MOT Re-Testing?

The answer cannot be stated in just one line as it depends on many factors. Even if your vehicle has failed the MOT test, if you follow the rules, you will not have to spend much money on getting the test done again.

First of all understand,  re-testing is possible if you go for it within 10 working days. If this is missed, your vehicle will need to undergo a full MOT test again as who knows what other problems the vehicle may develop.

You will have to pay a fee to undergo this re-test but to know its amount, you will have to read the following things:

1. Whatever the reason for MOT failure, If you choose to get it repaired from the same station, you will have to pay a partial amount of the prescribed fee for the original test. This exemption is only possible if participate within 10 working days after the first testing date.
2. Suppose if the vehicle is taken out of the site for a fix and then comes back for re-testing after more than 10 days then the amount will be charged only based on the original payment.
3. The next case is, if the failed vehicle is taken to another auto workshop to repair/correct the following items (one or many) and then returned for retesting before the end of the next day (as per centre time) no fee will be charged.
