The land of opportunities, Canada invites thousands of individuals around the world to meet its labor and economic needs. Being a permanent resident in Canada opens doors to new opportunities, jobs, free healthcare facilities, social security, and more. If you’re planning to relocate to Canada successfully through Express Entry - one of the best pathways for Canada Immigration - you must meet the minimum points required for Canada PR

In this article, we’ll discuss the points required for Canadian permanent residency to apply through the Express Entry system and how to boost your score.

Express Entry System

Canada’s most preferred immigration program for skilled workers, Express Entry, is a point-based system that invites candidates with the skills and experience required to contribute to Canada’s economic growth. You can apply for PR through this program in one of its streams -

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

To apply for PR through Express Entry, the first step is to check your eligibility. This is based on several factors like age, education, language skills, work experience, adaptability, and arranged employment. If you meet the minimum points requirement, you can move on to the next stage and create an Express Entry profile.

Points Required to File Canada PR Application

The CRS Score Calculator is used to determine eligibility for Canadian PR. To qualify for the Express Entry program, you need to achieve 67 points out of 100 to apply for a Canada PR Visa.

Here are the factors your profile will be evaluated on for Canada permanent residency -

  • Age - Maximum 12 points

You can get the maximum points for this factor if you apply between the ages of 18 and 35. After that, you will lose a point with each passing year and after 45, there will be no points given.

  • Education - Maximum 25 points

The more educational credentials you have, the more points you will get. If you have overseas degrees, getting an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a reputed organization will help increase your chances of getting an ITA - only the credentials have to be as per Canadian education standards.

If you are proficient in French too, your points will increase.
