How Do I Check-in on Alitalia Airlines?
Each airport has a different check-in time limit, so make sure you Alitalia Flights allow enough time to complete everything. For intercontinental, recommends arriving between 60 and 120 minutes early. If you are travelling with pets, you must check in at least 90 minutes before the plane's scheduled departure time.
Alitalia baggage allowance
Hand luggage: One piece
of hand luggage weighing 5kg and measuring 22in x 9in x 13in (including
handles, side pockets, and wheels).
Checked: Economy
class passengers are permitted to bring two suitcases weighing up to 50 pounds
each, with a maximum size of 62 inches per suitcase.
Excess: baggage
charges are $150 US per piece from North America. The fee is $150 if the bag is
larger than 62in (up to 80in). If the piece of luggage weighs more than 50
pounds (up to 70 pounds), the fee is $50.
Carry-on: You are
permitted one carry-on bag weighing no more than 15 pounds. You may also bring
one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop.
Checked: Your
allowance is one piece weighing no more than 50 pounds. Children aged two to
eleven have the same baggage allowance as adult passengers. Infants under the
age of two are limited to one piece with a maximum weight of 22lbs. There is
free transportation of one stroller for children up to 11 years old to all
destinations and booking classes. Extra baggage incurs fees.
Alitalia legroom
Seat depth is 31-32 inches.
When making a reservation, Alitalia gives you the option of selecting a
specific seat on the aircraft. The airline will make every effort to honor
such advanced seating requests; however, if the aircraft used for a particular
flight is replaced or modified, Alitalia cannot guarantee any seat's precise
assignment, even if it has already been confirmed.
Passenger change details
No name changes are permitted. Other changes should be discussed with
the airline.
Child fares
Depending on the flight, children under the age of 12 are entitled to
fare discounts. When making a reservation, check with the reservations centre.
Infants under the age of two are not permitted to sit.
Senior fares
There may be some senior discounts available. Consult the airline.
Pets
You can travel with pets, but you must request the special service at
your local Alitalia office and provide all necessary documentation. Animals,
along with their container and food, will not be included in the free baggage
allowance if accepted as checked baggage, but will be considered excess baggage
for which you may be charged. In addition to the free baggage allowance, guide
dogs will be transported for free.
Carrying musical instruments
As a carry on, you can bring any musical instrument that is no longer
than 40in. A seat is required for a cello. Other instruments that are longer
than 40in are considered cargo.
In-flight service
Complimentary meal service is available on all long-haul flights and
medium-haul flights lasting more than three hours. On request, special
religious or dietary meals are available.

The airline's frequent flier programme is called "MilleMiglia"
(thousand miles), and it is part of the Sky Team alliance, allowing passengers
to accumulate miles and redeem them for free tickets across the entire
alliance.
