Are you a student who is looking to prospect in your career using scalable cloud products that are built-to-design? Always wondered as a student can we learn about platforms as large a platform as SAP and Oracle. Read on…

I used to write code much before, I learnt what I had been writing will probably help me as a startup. But, how much will I scale? Why re-invent the wheel? I loved to use built-to-deploy products ever since. I did realize the time was ripe for learning something challenging.

I figured the use of NoSQL. I learnt how a few startups are running NoSQL databases and performing analytics in real-time. That’s when I was introduced to SAP. It replaces the hard task of writing code from the scratch. After meeting many SAP startups focus members, I decided to give SAP a try. It is always fun to try something you can customize & deploy in seconds.

There are approximately 550+ startups on the HANA in 22 industries, on 9 line of businesses. There are 30+ production ready solutions in 50 countries. I found it pretty interesting when 60% of the use cases the startups have been using were non-traditional from the SAP domain.

Trust me when I say this. SAP platform is an ocean. It constitutes lot many products and modules, and this number can run 300+. These products include new SDKs like OpenUI, web interfaces, tools for supply chain management, customer relationship management and much more.

I loved one of the products called Business ByDesign. ByD is built on the principles of a service oriented architecture (SOA). Integration between business capabilities is accomplished via messages. The underlying technology stack is a multi-tenancy enabled SAP NetWeaver stack, leveraging SAP's in-memory HANA database.

And, the best thing is you can run it on cloud.  Ideally ByD is suited for upper mid-market companies and subsidiaries of large corporations, this complete and integrated SaaS suite supports financials, human resources, sales, procurement, customer service, supply chain management.

Having had a demo at TechEd, I tried to find references online. And, I checked out few resources online like community network. They have a great set of instruction and materials on ByD, which helped me learn about all about the product. And, yes. I could build a custom prototype application within a few hours. I would really recommend this online course platform for SAP products. I definitely recommend you give a try.

Good luck!
