For How Long Should You Stick to a Skin Care Routine to See the Results?
When it comes to beauty, most of us wish we could get an overnight transformation. You know, like you getting that evenly toned and light skin by a mere snap of your fingers? Or better yet remove all those wrinkles with a single stroke of cream? Wouldn’t that be just heavenly? Unfortunately, this is not something that is possible. This is why you will need to continue following your skin care routine keenly and to the letter for a given period for you to register a change.
But for how long?
The good thing is that the propagators of these routines will have an estimated time after which results should be visible. Now, these time spans may be different for different products and hence you will need to be very patient. Even when you might be tempted to abandon a routine after a couple of days and jump to another one that promises faster results, it is better to give the current one some time. Products may take from weeks to even months before any change is noted. This discrepancy in speed of effectiveness will be brought forth by factors like:
1. Intensity of the product
Now different products will have different compositions. Some will be mild while others will be overly reactive. This means that the mild one will take a longer while to penetrate the skin than the reactive one. Therefore, you will have to be very patient with the mild one before you scrap it off as a non-performer. Take for instance the use of natural home remedies for skin lightening and the injection. You would honestly not expect your papaya mask to give you instant results as the injection. This is because the injection has a higher chemical content that will clear off the melanin in an instant while the papaya will take time due to its mild nature. In essence, what you should know is that not all products will work with the same speed and hence you should apply them for the prescribed time before dropping them. Think about it this way, what if you dropped the best skin care routine you will ever find just days before the breakthrough? No, that was not a rhetorical question. But when all is said and done just give the products time, even Rome wasn’t built in a day.
2. Part of the skin being molded
Your skin depth will differ across different parts of your body. For instance, the skin below the eyes is thinner than the one on your other parts of the face. Now, some of the beauty products you use will need to penetrate the skin in order for them to work. What this means is that if the same product is being used on these different parts, then it will be bound to react faster on the thinner skin than on the thicker. So in essence, what we are saying is that you should increase your patience with a product based on the skin part being modified and also the estimated time from the prescription.
3. Extent of damage being rectified
When you purchased that product, you must have had the kind of change you are looking for in mind. It could have been as a remedy to a small darkened patch on your face or as a whole face brightening strategy. Now, it would be absolute absurdity for you to think that the same product will brighten all of your faces in the same period it did with a single patch. It won’t happen, not even if you apply a whole tube in one day. This is because skin care experts have it that the effectiveness of a product will not be hastened by the amounts. If anything, the extra amounts will only go to waste. Therefore, you should also consider the intensity of the work you need the product to perform before you give up on it.
Conclusion
It is in the human nature to always want things the easier and the fastest way possible. This is also true for beauty pursuers. I mean, who wants to keep following a million skin care tips for two million years and nothing to show for it? This is why most people want a specific time frame of when the products will have finally yielded results. However, there is no way to tell exactly how long you should stick to a routine before giving up on. You can only rely on the prescription and when none is available, then use it for around three months then ditch it if it does not yield. But, most importantly, do not give up too soon.
