ESO Builds: Templar DPS/Healer
Elder Scrolls online has been built with a focus on flexibility and options, which means there are nearly infinite possible ESO builds for players to explore. While each class and race has their own strengths and weaknesses, careful spending can allow any class and race to fill any play style or group role. As an example, here is one approach for building a Templar DPS/Healer.
Templar's have three skill lines, Aedric Spear, Dawn's Wrath and Restoring Light. Aedric Spear focuses on melee based damage; Dawn's Wrath on magic based damage and Restoring Light is the only pure healing skill line in ESO. (This does mean the ESO builds for healers will mostly be Templars, but all of the classes have some healing abilities.)
A player interested in a Templar that can deal heavy damage will want to spend most of their skill points on Aedric Spear or Dawn's Wrath, or both. Obviously a healing Templar will want lots of skill points in Restoring Light. To build a DPS/Healer the best path is to split points between Dawn's Wrath and Restoring Light. There are two reasons for this: first, a healer does best standing back, and not in the middle of the fight. Dawn's Wrath magic-based attacks can be cast from a distance, allowing the Templar to have most of their abilities geared to the same play style. Aedric Spear, on the other hand, focuses on melee abilities, which means the character needs to be fighting in close to use them effectively, which would make it difficult to heal effectively. Also, both Dawn's Wrath and Restoring Light abilities primarily use magicka, so the players can focus put the majority of their attribute points into magicka, an not need to worry about splitting their points to power different abilities.
There are some skills which would be particularly useful for this build, such as Sun Strike, unlocked at level five with is both a damage and healing ability, dealing damage to enemies while restoring allies. When creating ESO builds like this, that are meant to fill multiple play styles, looking for abilities which can fit both roles can make a large difference in long term playability.
If the player is looking for a balanced character, this build will go well with the Redguard racial abilities. The Redguard's racial bonus to Stamina will allow the player to build up magicka and health without worrying about crippling their character with excessively low stamina. The Redguard bonus of one handed and shield weapons skills will also make it easier to pick up some ability to stay alive in melee actions--at least long enough to get out of the center of the fighting, without needing to spend huge amounts of skill points or time building up the character's melee abilities.
Alternatively, if the player wants to build an overpowered mage character, and doesn't care how 'squishy' he is in close combat, he might go with Altmer, whose racial abilities give significant magicka bonuses.
