Propylene Glycol

Propylene Glycol is one of the main ingredient used in the electronic cigarettes. It is and an organic compound and used as humectant and solvent, and used as food preservative. Vegetable Glycerin 

Vegetable glycerin is the second essential ingredient in the E-liquid. It produces a vapor of the electronic cigarette and also known as vegetable glycerol. It is thicker than the propylene glycol, so it gives off more vapor and less throat hitting. One of the important aspect that it is not allergic and also does not cause irritation.

Nicotine

Nicotine is an addictive stimulant but not cancer causing agent and used it many products that help in quitting smoking like gums and patches. For and e-cig it is extracted in a liquid form and used with Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin.

Flavoring

E-liquid comes in different it flavors. Three most common flavoring agents are malic acid, acetyl pyrazine, and vanillin. Malic acid is used in flavored fruit e-liquid and gives like the taste of green apples and grapes.  It is also added to reduce the PH level of soda drinks. Acetylpyrazine is extracted from peanuts, corns and sesame oil and most commonly used in tobacco, chocolate and coffee flavored e-liquid. Vanillin is most often used in dessert flavored e-liquid.

What is in electronic cigarettes Vapor?

The vapor of Electronic cigarettes mainly comprised of only 6 out of 20 chemicals that are found in tobacco and present in lower concentration levels and they include butanone, acetic acid, acetone, isoprene, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde and their concentration limit is far below than the safety limit. Further, investigation of contents of vapor in direct exhale also concluded that out of 9, five chemicals were completely safe and other were 90 percent safe. These nine compounds include propylene glycol, propanetriol, methylbutyl-3-methylbutanoate, Diacetin, Triacetin, Nicotine, Formaldehyde, Acetaldehyde, and Propanal.

So it can be concluded that vapor from the e-liquid is safe for the users. That is why e-cigarettes are considered as a safe alternative to smoking.
