Clinical Use of GC Tooth Mousse
The GC Tooth Mousse is a
topical tooth crème that helps to relieve teeth sensitivity and protects teeth
against decay. When any patient’s saliva is acidically-challenged by the normal digestive
process, the components of the mousse deliver bio-available calcium and
phosphate. It prevents the tooth from erosion and helps to treat dry mouth
syndrome. The GC Tooth Mousse is available in five different flavours -
vanilla, strawberry, tutti-frutti, mint, and melon.
The
features of the GC Tooth Mousse are as follows -
- It helps to
bind calcium and phosphate ions. Being a milk derivative, it is safe to
use. Although, people who are allergic to lactose should avoid it.
- It helps replace
the lost minerals in teeth which helps the teeth resist decay.
- It enhances
tooth-replenishing elements like calcium, phosphate, and fluoride.
- It supplies
calcium and phosphate for patients with poor saliva flow.
- It releases
vital minerals into the mouth as and when needed.
The
GC Tooth Mousse can help with the following dental problems -
- Dry Mouth:
When there is a poor saliva flow, it is considered a dry mouth. With the
lack of saliva, there isn’t a buffer between the enamel and the acids,
which then leads to tooth decay. The mousse can help by providing an extra
layer of protection against the acids, hence preventing tooth decay.
- Dental Decay:
The bacteria in our mouth which generally feed on sugars for energy create
acid as a by-product. This acid then leads to dental decay. Generally, if
the decay isn’t advanced, it can be reversed by fluoride in the toothpaste
and water, however, if the decay is advanced, the tooth mousse will help
restore the lost minerals and hence, restore the enamel.
- Teeth Sensitivity: When the second layer of the tooth, also called the dentine, is exposed at the neck of the mouth, the tooth experiences sensitivity. This occurs when the foods consumed are acidic and/or the saliva flow is poor. The calcium and phosphate ions in the mousse help seal off the exposed dentine.
- Enamel
Erosion: People suffering from reflux and morning sickness can use the
tooth mousse to prevent their teeth from dissolving due to the increase in
the acid in the mouth from the stomach. It is also advisable to not brush
right after vomiting. The acid weakens the teeth and brushing right after
will cause further damage. Applying the tooth mousse after rinsing the
mouth with water is advisable.
How
to apply the GC Tooth Mousse -
- At home:
- Early in the morning, brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste (1,000 ppm).
- Then use a clean finger to apply a generous layer of the mousse to the tooth surface.
- Keep the mouth undisturbed for three minutes. Repeat this up to four times a day.
2. At a
dental office:
- Wash your finger and then, apply a small amount of GC Tooth Mousse to the tooth surface.
- Hold the custom tray and then set it in the mouth of the patient.
- Keep the mouth undisturbed for three minutes.
- Instruct the patient to avoid expectoration or swallowing for two minutes.
There
is one more variant called the GC Tooth Mousse Plus, which is the same but with
enhanced fluoride.
