Several initiatives being pursued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada are part of Global Affairs Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy.

Combined, India, China, and the Philippines accounted for 44% of permanent resident admissions to Canada in 2021.

During the first five years of the Indo-Pacific Strategy, over $2.3 billion will be invested in new initiatives.

More than 65% of all international students in Canada come from the Indo-Pacific region. In order to promote mutually beneficial exchanges and the sharing of expertise, as well as expand education and research in fields that are mutually interesting, a five-year grant of $14.2 million will be provided through the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development program.
