When it comes to online shopping, it’s interesting to see the reservations that a minor section of the consumer base seems to have, all of which are not actually based on factual information, but mere “hearsay”. So today we are going to shed more light on these widespread misconceptions related to the practice of online shopping, and clarify them one by one.

1. “Online shopping is only meant for buying fancy clothes, jewellery and stuff”:

When you buy from a renowned site, the inventory of which is filled with eye-pleasing items for all age groups, then that factor makes the site a must-visit for the people belonging to all age-groups. So whether you want new diaper packs for your newborn, or a pair of contact lenses for the seniors in the house, major eCommerce stores out there appeal to every member of the family.

In fact not just that, online ventures help you tap into the promising market that you never knew existed, such as the real estate market. So earlier when you never could’ve known about the infinite potential in the estate industry of regions in Thailand, now you have industrial leaders there such as Cornerstone Real Estate to offer you professional guidance and property advisory services. Online shopping is not just for shopping, but to p=open new doors to present investment opportunities and future profits.

2. “The product quality is pretty much hit and miss”:

This is pretty much the biggest shade thrown towards online shopping platforms by the people who are not the biggest fans of the trend? They somehow feel the need to push the narrative that every single online brand is a fraud scheme of some sort, and only is there to dish out poor quality items to con the customers, when in the fact the reality is nothing but the polar opposite.

While the shady looking website that’s offering you “too good to be true” discount on the latest iPhone is more than likely to be a complete sham if you buy from the most trusted and highly rated platforms out there, the quality is always assured. For instance, when you buy car cover protection, you have the luxury to search for the best-rated products, made of quality material and recommended by the previous purchasers, and then make your purchase accordingly. Shopping from the big, trusted and highly rated shopping outlets (such as Citi Shop Deals, etc) lends you the assurance of buying the right item, at the right price, and genuine quality.

3. “It’s impossible to judge a product through a photograph”:

While I’m not completely refuting that claim that merely seeing is not enough, I’m pointing to the fact that the relief that you can only see the items these days online is false. Thanks to the ever-increasing awesomeness of science and technology, the advent of sci-fi techs over the years (such as Virtual Reality, augmented reality etc) have found their way into the online shopping sphere as well. So irrespective of whether you wish to try on the dress, or a pair of sunglasses, just to see if they suit you that well, now you have the means to do so whilst from the comfortable atmosphere of your bedroom.

Not just that, but even if you are looking to buy a product that’s highly crucial to your household purposes, but you don’t have a clue as to it’s quality assessment (say a diesel generator), online shopping comes to the aid. Earlier, your only hope of acquiring the right diesel generator was via the recommendation of a local crowd to guide you to the neighborhood vendor, online shopping today means that you can reach out to the best diesel generators on a global scale and have your Genset installation by trustworthy electrical engineers.

4. “It’s only meant for youngsters”:

Isn’t that the most obvious fact that comes to the mind when imagining the term “online shopping”? Just a bunch of hippy youngsters enjoying their rad sunglasses and swaggy pants that they just bought online and are rocking the stage in them? While the advertisements would have you believe otherwise, online shopping is an all-inclusive kind of experience for people of all demographics and age-groups.

Not only can the senior members of the family likely to find the products that resonate with their personal tastes, but they can also search for other essential services such as pharmaceuticals, yoga lessons, therapists, etc as well.

5. “Online shopping is putting all regular shops and stores out of business”:

While it’s natural to assume that the online shopping platforms are sweeping all the competition unfortunate enough to lay in its path, nobody where the large giants of the industry (such as Amazon) get these products from? Of Course these items, products, tools, services, etc are all mass delivered to them by the regular retailers who operate local stores and shops, and these online giants simply eliminate the operational costs to offer these mass accumulated products at cheaper prices.

Vendors, shopkeepers and business owners often pattern with the eCommerce giants to directly sell their goods and services to them, instead of the intermediate parties, which offers mutual benefits to them and the companies alike.

6. “Shopping for products online is not safe due to hackers and frauds”:

While it would be wrong to completely deny or downplay the fact that online hackers do exist, it's safe to say that you’re figuratively as likely to come across a form of fraudulence during online shopping as you are to have your pocket picked while shopping at a general store. The notion that the online sphere is completely riddled with Ph.D. graduates in computer science who simply want your money is just not true.

Even if that was the case, it should be noted that the largest eCommerce stores out there are usually one step ahead of the hackers and tricksters and as they have a huge empire to take care of, make sure to keep their platform safe from any potential threats. These reputed online shopping platforms are so big today only due to the safe and secure shopping experience that they offer to their customers.
