Since then, heliski has evolved from an exotic winter entertainment into an elite sport, in which those who already feel comfortable skiing and snowboarding are participating. Here are the main Gelisk regions of the planet.
Greenland
The largest island of the world, located in the north-east of North America, is famous for its fresh dry snow in May and breathtaking landscapes with crystal clear ocean and icebergs in the lead roles. This region is considered the safest for Heliski and great for novice riders. In addition to skiing, in Greenland you can get acquainted with the life of the Inuit, the subtleties of local fishing, dog sledding, and if you're lucky, you can see a polar bear in its natural habitat.
Chile
When summer is in one hemisphere, winter is in another, therefore one of the main advantages of Heliski is its seasonality. Compared with Greenland, the top of Chile is designed for more experienced riders. The tour organizers fly out of Santiago’s tallest skyscraper, located in the very center of the city, and then land on 4000-meter heights and 45-degree slopes in mountain lakes and exotic forests with araucaria, oysters with wine and hot springs. The nature of Chile is so rich that Helipro also developed a separate heli-safari program, which is especially popular among families with children.
Canada
One day Heliski grows from a hobby into a need — and you realize that you are always looking for better snow and landscapes. In this case, it remains to get to the homeland of this sport - to Canada, in order to be surprised again and fall in love with this sport forever.
The stability of precipitation in winter and the diversity of the landscape allow you to travel to Canada almost every day, and the level of service is at the level of the highest peaks. The best confirmation of this is the long-term domination of Canadian chalets in the nomination "The best in the world Heliski chalets" at the International Ski Prize. This fairy tale is a forest walk, one of the pearls
India
Having tested several regions, you can safely fly to India, and the highest mountains in the world will be literally at your feet. Heliski in the Himalayas are long and varied descents from spacious fields to unusual forests, and the landing reaches 5000 meters. The magic of the main mountain system of the planet is felt everywhere, and it can be felt even in non-flying weather, having entered the house of the Roerichs. With a certain luck, you can witness the filming of a new Bollywood blockbuster, and if the distant and extreme road does not scare you (although you are already in the Himalayas, it means you are not scared), go to get acquainted with the inhabitants of the highest mountain village, which has been gone for two days from civilization. True, you should not go there: it is quite possible to get there by helicopter.
Alaska
The northernmost state of the United States is famous for its truly vertical descents, so the most experienced riders come here for thrills more often. The conquest of the mountains of Alaska is no longer terrible any peaks. And as a reward go the glaciers, fjords and the incomparable game of the northern lights.
Russia: Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands
It is a unique opportunity to drive through the crater of volcano breathing. It is possible to ride a snowmobile. This is a great opportunity to prepare for a company of hares. If you’re not particularly interested in parks, a park with springboards is at your service. For beginners is available training track. The highest level of exotics is on the Kuril Islands.
Patagonia
A beautiful region, equally suitable for beginners as well as for those who are looking for new perspectives and landscapes. The nail of the heliski program itself is an opportunity to go down to where no one has ever gone. Then on a kayak or speed boat you can swim next to dolphins, penguins and watch the sea lions.
New Zealand
One of the two countries (along with Chile), where you can go to the Helisques of our summer calendar. The highest mountain of the country, Mount Cook (3754 meters) is located on the southern island. Skating takes place in a national park with a breathtaking view of the giant glaciers. In your free time, you won't be bored either: bungee jumping up to 134 meters, boat trips between the rocks and excursions to the shooting sites of The Lord of the Rings.
Turkey
From 2018, foreign pilots were again allowed to fly through Turkey, and the heliski returned to the Kachkar region. This is a real gem of the Pontic Ridge and a stunning region for freeride. Pontic Mountains stretch along the Black Sea coast, so there is always a lot of high-quality snow. And because of the sea climate, the level of avalanche danger is very low. The highest point is Mount Kachkar (3937). The trip takes place at an altitude of 3700-1500 m, the height difference reaches 1700 meters. And the best part is that Turkey is nearby, and a visa is not required for Russian citizens.
