Apply for business grants for minority women, and grow your business with more impact

The US Government is committed to uplifting minorities and sets aside billions of dollars each year to fund projects undertaken by minorities. Business grants for black women are specifically designed to support black women in business and other areas, such as education, research, and art. The Corporate Counsel Women of Color (CCWC) program gives business grants for minority women worth $5,000 to five individual applicants each year. The Coalition to Back Black Businesses awards $25,000 to several businesses annually. Funds are given to enhance the resilience and long-term success of minority women-owned businesses. Black Girl Ventures (BGV) program aims to foster growth and innovation among black and brown women-identifying founders.   

A commonly overlooked fact is that women, irrespective of their ethnicity, are considered minority when it comes to business funding. Women, as well as minority businesses can take advantage of business grants for minority women offered by private institutions and government agencies. There are several agencies, both on the national and local level that administer grants to women entrepreneurs. There are over 5,000 government sources that disburse over $20 billion in grants for starting a small business.   

Grants by National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)  

The Growth Initiative by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) provides access to equity capital from institutional investors. HerRise microgrant, offered by Yva Jourdan Foundation, offers a monthly grant of $1,000 to women of color entrepreneurs. National Black Business Pitch is an annual competition for black businesses, wherein three winners receive prizes of up to $10,000. The Black Ambition Prize is available to businesses with at least one of the founding team members identifying themselves as a Black/Hispanic, or Latinx. The Grand Prize winner gets $1 million in business grant for minority women. 15 additional teams receive between $15,000 and $250,000. They also receive coaching, workshops on leadership, and marketing opportunities.   

Comcast RISE Investment Fund and FedEx Small Business Grant  

Launched in 2024, Comcast RISE Investment Fund is open to entrepreneurs in specific target cities. 100 business owners are given grants worth $5,000 each. The annual FedEx Small Business Grant Contest is open to businesses in operation for at least six months, and has fewer than 99 employees. The Grand Prize winner receives $50,000, and nine additional winners receive $20,000 each. National Black MBA Association Scale-Up Pitch Challenge gives $50,000 in grants to the first prize winner, $10,000 to the second prize winner, and $7,500 to the third prize winner.   

Certain minority groups are presumed to be socially and economically disadvantaged and can qualify for business grants for minority women program. Individuals who do not belong to these minority groups are also eligible provided they can prove that they have been discriminated against and are economically disadvantaged.
