Women receive scholarships from governments and foundations

More and more women are enrolling in higher education, and many of them are returning to college after completing their family. However, not everyone has access to equal opportunities, and many need financial assistance in order to continue with their education dreams. However, federal and state governments are committed to ensuring that no woman is deprived of education opportunities due to lack of funds. Not only the government, by many universities, colleges, schools, and private foundations provide scholarships for women to help them continue with their education goals.   

  

Federal Pell Grant is one such most popular scholarship for women which is provided on the basis of financial need and academic performance. The maximum amount awarded under the grant is $7,395 per year, and one can apply for this grant for the full 12 terms, or roughly six years. The actual amount given under the grant would depend on the student aid index (SAI), and the cost of attendance (COA) at the college. Your Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) may also be considered to determine the amount that you can get under this scholarship for women. To apply for this grant, you need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA form, from the educational institution in which you want to enroll for a full-time course of study. The form usually becomes available in the first week of October. You need to fill FAFSA each year in order to continue receiving money under this scholarship for women.   

  

American Association for University Women (AAUW) provides scholarships for women worth $20,000 for the Master's or first professional degree, $25,000 for a doctoral degree, and $50,000 for the post-doctoral degree. Women Scholarship for International Students worth $5,000 is given to a global-minded female student beginning her undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate studies. The applicant must be a woman who is interested in other cultures and is a high achiever with consistently outstanding grades.   

  

Scholarships by private entities   

Go Girl! Grant by The Girlfriend Factor provides scholarships for women who is at least 25 years of age and is passionate about an educational path that will lead to a career. Society for Women Engineers gives scholarships for women, ranging in amount from $1,000 to $16,000. Applications are usually due between March and the beginning of May. Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award is given to women who are primary earners in their families. The applicant must be enrolled in or accepted to a vocational training program, or a four-year college or university. Amber Grant is a business category grant by WomensNet, that gives $30,000 monthly to one winner in different categories.
