Syphilis symptoms will heal after treatment
The characteristics of syphilis that are starting to heal usually depend on the stage of the disease and previous treatment.
The following are signs that generally indicate syphilis is starting to get better after undergoing treatment:
- The sores and rash begin to disappear usually within a few weeks of treatment. The wound will dry out and heal without leaving a scar if there is no additional infection.
- No new symptoms appear such as fever, sore throat, or swollen lymph nodes, which usually appear in secondary syphilis.
- The results of blood tests such as VDRL or RPR show improvement such as a decrease in antibody titers if the infection begins to heal.
- If new lesions do not appear in the genital area or other parts of the body, this could be a sign that the Treponema pallidum bacteria are starting to resolve.
- Many syphilis sufferers feel physically better after treatment. Complaints such as muscle aches, headaches and fatigue generally decrease or disappear.
