one man's junk --

An aquaintance of ours recently decided to have his entire home re-sided with the latest and greatest materials. Since my brother is a carpenter, he was the one to rip off the old siding, re-insulate and wrap the house so it was ready for the big wig company to come and put up the siding. (I am not sure about how all these details work, so I will leave that to the experts)

A-n-y-w-a-y-- The homeowner had a huge monster of a cedar deck. He wanted to have it torn down and disposed of (burnt?) My beloved brother knows good wood when he sees it and so he proceeded to haul the thing to our house.

So far, we have made ourselves a deck off the kitchen (10x14ft) , a small step (6ftx6ft square patio type) up to our main door and today a HUGE birdfeeder. This birdfeeder is the hugest dang thing I have ever seen. It stands approximately 6 ft high and is probably about 5 ft wide. It has a roof over the top and it has a large feeding tray... so far, we have seen  bluejays,  chickadees,  grey headed junkos, house finch, purple finch,  nuthatch and a BIG  squirrel  - LOL

My point is: Out of one man's deck, we have a deck, a step up, and a bird feeder castle. Talk about recycling, eh?

We still have wood left.

I was also going to suggest a planter box. How big is your yard? Have a raised vegetable garden in several planter boxes. Where do you live?
Peaceful, you sure get around with those links, don't ya?

Great minds think alike, Lisa. I was thinking that Fishie now has somewhere for her in-laws to stay ... lol.

What about furniture, Fishie, or planter boxes? What are you like at sculpture?

I really can't believe what people will throw away! Unfortunately I'm a bit TOO much the other way.

wow! Now that's what I call recycling. I'm so glad to hear that there are people out there who are not wasteful! I can't imagine anyone wanting to toss Cedar.

How much rent are you charging for the bird house? Lol. That's huge!

Throw some cedar blocks in your chester droors for the scent too!
